CITY TO HOST TOWN HALL FORUM ON POLICE CHIEF SEARCH
Robert Stewart to Host Public Forum at Kroc Center
SOUTH BEND—The City of South Bend will host a public hearing this week to gather
community input on the search process for the next Chief of Police. Mayor Pete
Buttigieg will greet those in attendance and the forum will be hosted and moderated by
Robert Stewart, an associate with the Strategic Policy Partnership.
"This is a terrific opportunity for local residents to share the qualities and attributes they
would like to see in the next police chief," said Mayor Pete Buttigieg. "The information
gathered at the forum will help guide the process toward the candidates best suited to
serve our community and build relationships of trust."
The town hall will be held on Thursday, October 4th at the Kroc Center, located at 900 W.
Western Avenue in South Bend. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will start at
6:00 p.m.
Robert Stewart is an accomplished law enforcement professional and executive,having
served in a variety of high-profile positions in his distinguished career. He was the
interim police director in Camden,N.J. and has also served as the Executive Director of
NOBLE (National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.)His resume is
attached to this release.
The public hearing is open to the public. Spanish language and sign language translators
will be available for those needing assistance.
