AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
APPROPRIATING $66,060. 00 FROM THE
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (E.M.S. )
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND (FUND # 288)
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
Certain expenses of the Emergency Medical Services division
of the City of South Bend Fire Department, including the emergency
repair of an air compressor, as well as the replacement of a river
rescue boat and a lease-purchase payment for Engine No. 3 , have or
will soon come due. The Common Council of the City of South Bend has
determined that it is necessary and appropriate to make payment of
these expenses and to appropriate sufficient funds from he E.M.S.
Capital Improvement Fund in order to do so, and that it is in the
best interests of the City that the same occur.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I . That the amount of $66,060. 00 shall be and
hereby is appropriated in 1993 and ordered set apart within the
Emergency Medical Services (E.M.S. ) Capital Improvement Fund (Fund #
288) , as set forth below, for the payment of the indicated expenses
of the Emergency Medical Services division of the City of South Bend
Fire Department:

SECTION II . This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval
of the Mayor.

Dear Council Members:
Please find attached for filing, an ordinance appropriating
$66,060.00 within the E.M.S. Fund #288 for the purchase of
certain equipment that has become necessary within the Fire
Department. Funds are available and the appropriations are as
follows:
1. Fire Station Air Compressor $ 22,300.00
2. Replace Boat I 17,500.00
3. Lease Purchase Payment (Eng.3) 26,260.00
TOTAL $ 66,060.00
This request is for three (3) purchases. The first is for a
scheduled lease purchase payment on a fire truck. The second is
for emergency spending that was budgeted for 1994 for the
replacement of our Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (S.C.B.A. )
air compressor. The third is for an unforeseen circumstance
which is that our main boat is currently out of service and is
not in the best interests of the City to make additional
repairs. The boat is approximately 11 years old.
