Piasecki and unanimously carried, the proposal in connection with the South Bend Hom Improvement Loan Program was awarded to Aar vark Construction Company for $9,255. Ccninission approval requested for the following ro sal and loan in connection with the Rental Rehab Program in accordance with the recommendation from the Bureau of Contractor Proposal Grable Vernon Grable $6,217 E. Fox Mrs Kolata stated that this was the first Ren 1 Rehab contract to be brought before the Comnission under this program. The owner pro ides 50% of the financing and the loan covers 50% of the project. Mrs Kolata noted that Mr. Grable will act as his own contractor for the project and he does mee the requirements for the Bureau of Housing contractors. Upoa a motion made by Mr. Donoho, seconded by Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, the pro sal and loan in connection with the Ren al Rehab Program was approved for Vernon Gr le, 828 -830 E. Fox. f. comnission approval requested for Resolution No. 689 relating to acquisition of property condemnation in the East Bank Developuent Area. Upoa a motion made by Mr. Donaldson, seconded by Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 689 relating to acquisition of property by condemnation in the East Bank -6- PROPOSAL IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOUTH BEND HOME IMPROVEMENT LOAN PROGRAM WAS AWARDED TO AARDVARK CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR $9,255 Loan $3,500 PROPOSAL AND LOAN IN CONNECTION WITH THE RENTAL REHAB PROGRAM WAS APPROVED FOR VERNON GRABLE, 828 -830 E. FOX RESOLUTION NO. 689 RE- LATING TO ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY BY CONDEMNATION IN THE EAST BANK DEVELOP- MENT AREA WAS APPROVED South Bend gedevelopment Commission Regular Me ting - September 23, 1983 6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) 7. g. Staff report on bid opening held on 19, 1983 regarding the L. Keen Buih Monroe Park. Mrs. Kolata stated that bids were received on September 19, 1983 regarding the L. Keen Building in Monroe Park. She stated that we received one bid from Brown & Brown General Contractors in the amount of $110,977. We also received a bid fran Kaser - Spraker Con ractors in the amount of $86,000. Mrs Kolata explained that the staff's reommendation is to reject all bids because of the high cost estimates received. The staff recommends that the project be rea vertised as three separate bids for the roof, masonry and structural work. This will re it the major components of the building and protect it from further deterioration over the winter. Upon a motion made by Mr. Donaldson, seconded by Mr. Donoho and unanimously carried, the bids received on September 19, 1983 regarding the L. Keen Building in Monroe Park were rejected and the staff was authorized to adv rtise for the roof, masonary and stractural work. There wire no progress reports 8.
