AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 20, ARTICLE 6, SECTION 20-67(h) OF THE
SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE PARKING FINES IN
DESIGNATED PROHIBITED OR LIMITED PARKING AREAS
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
On September 22, 2003 this Council passed Ordinance No.9455-03 which amended Chapter
20, Article 1, Section 20-18 of the South Bend Municipal Code to increase the parking fines in areas
designated for limited hourly parking from five dollars ($5.00) to ten dollars ($10.00) effective
January 1, 2004. To be consistent, the parking fine for designated prohibited or limited parking areas
should also be increased from five dollars ($5.00) to ten dollars ($10.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA as follows:
Section I. Chapter 20, Article 1, Section 20-67(h) of the South Bend Municipal Code shall
be amended to read as follows:
(h) The fine for violating any provision in this section shall be frvc ten dollars
{$5:66j 10.00 per violation.
Section II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect om and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Re: Ordinance Amending South Bend Municipal Code to Increase Fines for Parking in
Designated Prohibited or Limited Parking Areas
Dear Ms. White:
Last fall the South Bend Common Council enacted Ordinance No. 9455-03 which
increased the fine for overtime parking within the City from five dollars ($5.00) to ten dollars
($10.00), effective January 1, 2004.
To be consistent, it is necessary that the separate section of the South Bend Municipal
Code setting fines for parking in prohibited or limited parking areas be changed. I therefore
attach a bill amending South Bend Municipal Code § 20-67(h) to increase the fine for parking in
designated, prohibited or limited parking areas from five dollars ($5.00) to ten dollars ($10.00).
Thank you for your consideration of this ordinance. I will be available to answer any
questions you may have at the appropriate Council Committee meeting and I will present the
ordinance at the public hearing.
