Dear Board Members:
PHONE 574/235-9255
FAX 574/235-9305
Firefighter Robert A. Rice has retired as a member in good standing from the South Bend Fire
Department after 33 years of service. The fire helmet and boots which he used for many years
are, in my opinion, unfit to be issued to any other firefighter in this Department. The fair market
value is practically negligible and certainly far less than $1,000.00.
I request that the helmet and boots be declared as surplus and presented to Firefighter Rice.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
