appeared and No remonstrances were filed. The Board therfore declare the above

The Board having under consideration the matter of park, it was una.nimosly
adopted that the following conmunication.be directed to the Indiana Ry Co.

Gentlemen; --In considering the matter of Park advantages for the coming;
summer, the Board of Public Works has noted the fact that the park pl6asures of our
people suffered greatly by the closing of Springbroo'; Park for the entire qwason
last year.
With a view to ascertain if the priveleges of this resort cound,not again be
open to the people of South Bend, we would respectfully ask th t your company consider
the advisability of reopening Springbrook Park.
T-he growth of the city c.nd the increasing number of those who seek such recre-
ation, make it imperative that sometr,i:ig be done to increase our facil-ties for taking
care of our people in the surimer season and we believe the public would appreciate
fully, an opportunity to enjoy the courtesy of your Company in this particular.

-Grade established for Vistula Avenue from old city limits to new city limits
of the year 1904.
Upon report of the County Connissioners that the Vistula Avenue Viaduct could
not be built until the exact street !in at that point be established the Board
passed the following resolution to establish the street 66 ft wide at that point.
CONDEMIATION RESOLUTION NO. 15.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, IndiAna:
That the followinf, described property be appropriated for the use of said City:
Begin at stone set at intersection of the East line of Sec. 18. T. 37 N. R. 3 E.
and center of Vistula Live. Said stone is 294.36 feet south of 1/4 Sec. corner
on East line of said section, thence N. 8808*. 889.7 ft to center of East er_d of
old bridge, thence N. 79*25' W. 442.5 feet to stone in center of Vistula Avenue on
the West line of E 1/2 of S. E. 1/4 Sec 18. T. 37 N. R. 3 E.

The Board met in regular session at 10 A. M. All mem"ers present.
The Bond of the Chicago & India,,na Air Line Railway Company, filed October 22nd
1903. was confirmed and approved.
The South Bend Electric Company was ordered to place a 50 C. P. la.nip at the
intersection of alleys between St. Joseph and Michigan Streets andWayne and Jefferson
Streets.
A Committee composed of Col. Crockett, Dr. Cunnings and Mr. Badett appeared
be!-ored the Board in behalf of a petition heretofore filed for a grade crossiizg
at the intersection of the I. I. & I. Ry Co's tracks at Portage Avenue.
ITie Boare havink inspected the newly constructed #7 Hose House, it is .ereby
resolved that the Board will accept said building when the contractor completes the
approaches accordi.f; to specifications, and the Board will accept Said building
subject to a deduction in the contract price in the amount of $83.00, which deducted
sum will be paid when approaches are properly completed.

South Main Street from Indiana Avenue to EwirE Ave, Leer Street from Dayton street to
Henry street. Same were approved.
Crematory report for February showing
Weight of Garbage received 152 tons 600 lbs.
Coal used - - - - - - - _ 13 ton 700 lbs.
Same was received and filed.

Authority given the Home Improvement Company to construct such sewers as City
Engineer may design, which specifications may be approved by the Board before the
work is begun.
IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION #174.
RESOLVED By the ;card of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That
an::~irfiprovement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows:
The Improvement of Hine Street from Walnut street to Studebaker Street by grading
said Hine Street its full width and constructing cement sidewalks and cement curbing
on each side of the roadway.
Said improvement shall be known and designated as Hine Street Grade$ Curb and
Walk, and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared
by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals
for bids for the execution of the above work shall be published on the3rd day of
March and on the 30th day of March.1904, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the South
Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in
the City Hall on the 5th day of April 1904, at 7:15 P. M. and will receive bids up to
10 A. M. on the 6th day of April 1904.

Addition by grading the roadway it full width and constructing cement sidewalks __nd
curbing an each side of said street.
Said improvement shall be known as Sherman_ Avenue Grade, Curb and Walk and shall
be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil
Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids for the
execution of the above work shall be published on the 23rd day of March and on. the
30th day of March, 1904. in the South Bend Daily Tribune and South Bend Daily Times.

Communication sent to the County Commissioners su,,--gesting that the present wood
bridge at Springbrook Park could be used to a good advantage at Robinson Street
where said street is crossed by a gulch.
Henri DeVos & Co were notified by letter to begin work of sewer construct-
ion on Michigan Avenue Pipe Sewer.
Communication received from C. A. & Fannie E. McDonald regarding a sharp
angle,,_ at alley on Lot 1 First Plat of Shetterly Place, stating it had never heed
dedicated to the City.
Same was referred to Engineer for investigation.

an improvement be rude of the kind, sizem location and terminal points as follows:
A sewer in and along Sorin street from the St.Joseph River to Emerick street consist-
ing of a 42 ilich circular single ring brick sewer, in and along Emerick street from
Sorin street to the alley North of Ceder street in and along said alley fromFEmerick
street to South Bend Avenue in and alone South Bend avenue from Hill street to Eddy
street; on Eddy street from South Bend avenue to Campau street on Campau street
from Eddy street to Arthur street.
Saidimprovement shall be known and designated as South Bend Avenue Trunk Sewer
and shall be constructed according to the plans and specificationd prepared by the
City civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids
for the execution of the above work shall be published on the 29th day of March and
on the 5th day of April, 1904 in the South Bend Daily Tribune and the South Bend.

the City Hall on the 12 th day of April 1904 at 7:15 P. M. and will receive bids up

for the execution of the above work shall be published on the 29th day of March and
on the 5th day of April 1904, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and South Band Daily
Times. This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City
Hall on the'l2th day of April 1904, at 7:15 p. m. and will receive bids up to 10 a. m
