The Board met in regular session at 10: A. 14. all members present.
The Engineer filed the assessment rolls and final estimates for"the following
street Improvements, to:wit: Grade Curb and Walk on Indiana Ave. Grade Curb and Walk

The Board passed the following resolution.
CONDEMNATION RESOLUTION No. 13.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
That the following described property be appropriated for the use of thesaid city:
A strip of land fourteen (14) feet wide, Seven feet on each side of North and
South Center line of Lots 17, 160 13, 12, and 9 in Sorins first addition to the
town of Lowell, now a part of the City of outh Bend, Indiana grid to the center
of North half of Lot 8, in said Additions �-lso a strip of land twelve (12) feet
wide, Six (6) feet on each side of East and West center line of North half of Lot
eight (8), all in the said Sorins First Addition to the town of Lowell now a part
Of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
The following described property may be injuriously or beneficialy affected
by such appropriation.

will hear and receive remonstrances from all persons interested or affected by
these proceedings.
The purpose of -'such appropriation is to provide @or public alleys.
Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 7th day of December and on the
14th day of December 1903. in the South Bend Daily Times.

The Board met in regular session at 10: A. M. All members present.
Contractor L. H. Webster was granted an extension of 60 days time on the Portage
Avenue Sewer and 90 days time on the Huron Ave. Sewer, E. Bartlett St. Sewer and
Marion Boulevard.
The Engineer filed assessment roll and final estimate for the following
improvemet under resolution +142. To —wit:
Grade, Curb, Walk and Macadam on Bartlett St. From St. Joseph St. to
Marion Boulevard.
Resolved, that the notices of the amounts of assesments be published for
six consecutive days in Lhe South Bend Daily Times and the South. Bend Daily Tribune,
stating that the Board will give a hearing on such assessments at its office in
the City Hall on the 22nd day of December 1903, at 7:15 P.M. Publication of such
notices shall begin on .the 9th day of December 1903.
Resolved furthur, that the entire work under the atrove contracts be
accepted and the final estimates thereon allowed, Notice of the resolution shall
be published on the 9th day of December 1903 in the South Bend Daily Times and
the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that the Board will give a- searing upon
acceptance of such work at its office in the City Hall on the 22nd day of
December, 1903.

Engineer filed plan of Boulevard from Howard Park to LaSalle Park.
Engineer filed sasessment rolls for the following improvements; to —wit:
Grade, Curb and Walk on Poland St from Webster to Union streesr, Grade, Curb
and Walk on Emerson Ave from Mishawaka Ave to St. Joseph River. Under Improvement
Resolutions No. 167 and 166.
Also Water Connections on Emerick street fmom Jefferson St to Niles Ave.
Resolved, that the notices of the amounts of assessments be published
for six consecutive days in tk.e South Bend Daily Times and The South Bend Daily

To the Honorable Board of Public Works,
South Bend, Indiana.
Gentlemen: -
I am instrueted by the Board of Directors of the Home Improvement Company to
say to you that the Home Improvement Company is pleased to offer the City of
South Bend for Park purposes the following described tract:-
PARKOVASH PLACE PARK as sHown and described on the plat of the First Addition
of NAVARRE PLACE.
The conditions under which we propose to dedicate this ground to the City
are that the City sgall receive, improve and maintain the same for park purposes.
If this proposition is acceptable to your Honorable Body, we will be
pleased to make the formal dedication.

Petition filed for an Electric Light at the Corner of Dtyton and Miami St.
and Corner of Calvert and Miami Street.
A Plat of the lst Addition of the Navarre Place was filed and approved.
Terre I3aute & Logansport Railway Company was ordered to open crossing at
Calvert Street formerly Elmira St and plank same.
Grand Trunk Railway Company was ordered to place an all-night lamp at the
crossing of the Grand Trunk & I. I. & I. Railroads at Ford street crossing.
An application of R. S. VanNorstrand for position at Creamatory was filed.
Ten Year Boni of James Nelson on West Marion Street Brick Pavement was
Approved and Tiled.
City Engineer was instructed to ascertain expense for an 8 ft. Ornamental
Iron fence for City Cemetery.

SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY EVENING AT 7:15. P. M.
Tree Board met in special meeting at 7:16 P: All members present.
Hearings were given on t',e assessment Rolls and final estimates for the
following improvements;
Pipe Sewer on Monroe Street, Grade, Curb and Walk on Sample
street, Grade, Curb and Walk on' Ewing Avenue, Grade, Curb and Walk on Notre` Dame,
Avenue, Grade, Curb and Walk on Fos Street, Grade, Curb and Walk on Indiana Avenue.
Brick Pavement on Emerick Street Also Brick Pavement on alleys from Michigan Street
St. Joseph Street - to alley North of Wayne Street.
All under Improvement Resolutions Nos. 152,166,169,164,168,170,137 and 150 respectively.
In all of the above eases with the exception of Monroe street
Sewer and Emerick street Brick Pavement, no remonstrances were filed and no
remonstrances appeared. The Board therefore find that the property affected by
these improvements are benefitted in the amount shown by said assessment rolls and
the said assessment rolls and the final estimates therein are hereby in all things
ratified and confirmed.

SPECIAL METING TUESDAY EVENING AT 7:15 P. M. DEC 22nd.:.1903..
Hearings were giver on the following assessment rolls and final estimates
for the following improvements;
Grade`, Curb, walk and Macadam on Bartlett St. Grade, Curb & Walk on Poland St.
Under Improvement=Resolutions Nos. 142,167 respectively. Also Pater connections
on Emerick Street.
In. all of the above cases no remonstrances were Filed and no remonstrances
appeared, The Board therefore find that the property affected by these improvements
are benefitted in the amount shown in said assessment rolls and the fir: l estimates
therein are hereby in all things ratified and confirmed.
Hearing on Emerson. Avenue Grade, Curb & Walk Under Improvement Resolution
+165, was extended until Dec. 30th, 1903. at. 10: A. 1.
Hearing on Condemnation Resolution +13 adopted the 4th day of December
1903, condeming a certain described strip of land through Sorin's First Addition,
to the Torn of Lowell Now a part of the Cit-r of South Bend, for the opening of
a certain alley, was given its first hearing;.
Miner E. & Anna H. Listenberger through Attorney F. J. L. Meyer
filed a remonstrance against said Condemnation Resolution ;+13.
Final action was taken under advisement.
The Board then adjourned until Wednesday Dec. 30th, 1903 at 10: A.M.

Hearing was given on the assessment role a-nd final estimate for the
Crade,. Curb and Walk or. Emerson Avenue from Mishawaka Ave. to St. JosephRiver, under
Improvement Rwsolut ion +165.
In. tr-.:e matter of the above improvement, no remonstraces appeared And no
remonstrances were . riled. The Board. therefore find the Property assessed is benefited
to the amount of the assessment as shown in said assessment roll and that the
assessment filed Dec. llth and that the final estimate allowed Dec. 11, 1903 should
be and tie same are ?,ereby in all things ratified, confirmed, and approved.
The Bond of Peter Suzio on Hill Street Pipe Serer was accepted and filed.
South Bend Snow Driving Club was granted permission to have snow races
on Colfax.Avebue on December 30th, 1903. Chief of Police was notified �'-o give
proper protection on said street during races.
