The Board met in regular_ session, Capt. Nicar.being absent. Hearing was had on the assessment roll of benefits and awards of damages in the matter of the proceedings brought under Condemnation Resolution +10A. Remonstrances were filed by F.C.Wiltrout and wife and W.L.Johnson and wife, against the awards of damages as made by the Board of Public Works, setting forth the facts that such awards as made are not consistent with the valuation of the s property condemned. The Board gave the remonstrances filed due consideration. The Board find that in their opinion said awards are consistent with the valuation of the property and that the assessment roll of benefits and awards of damages fill Oct. 24th, 1903, should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Nicar being absent* The Board approved the Bond of the South Bend Electric Company, and also, entered into a contract with said Electric Company according to the.term sof their 'bid , which said contract was referred to the Co I mmon Council for ratification. Bids for the heating of +7 Hose House were received and awarding of the contract postponed until Tuesday Nov. loth, 1903. ■ Tuesday ...Nov. loth, 1903.._ The Board met In regular session, all members being present. Heating contract for +7 Hose House awarded C. 0. Fomsom-7� Permission granted W.B.calvert to pave LaSalle Court and lay cement sidewalks on both sides of said court, walks to be 3' in width. Ehgineer instructed to establih grade. SPECIAL SESSION ..... 7:15 P.M - President. Hearings were given on the following street improvement Final estimates and assessment Rolls. Lafayette street pipe sewer, resolution # 125. Franklin street grade, curb and walk, resolution + 149. Hammond Court grade, curb and walks, resolution # 148, In the matter of the pipe sewer on Lafayette street, a large number of property owners appeared to remonstrate against the amounts of their respective assessments and to ascertain the reasons for the City not assuming a share of the cost of said sewer. The Board find that each piece of property abbutting on said improvement is benefited 1 in the amount of the respective assessment as shown on said roll, and that said roll filed Oct. 31st, and the Final estimate thereon allowed Oct. 31st, should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. In the matter of the grade, curb and walk improvements of Hammond Court Find Franklin streets, no remonstrants appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board find that the property described in said rolls is benefited in the amount of the assessments as shown on said rolls, and said Final Estimates and Assessment Rolls filed Oct. 31st, 1903, should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified, con- firmed and approved. All members being present.- ,14-19" Electric Company were ordered to place a mid-" lamp at the intersection of Dinan Court and St. Joseph street. Agreement entered into with Geo. Beek for a strip of ground bordering on the proposed Boulevard front. Petition filed by the property owners abutting on the alleys between Wayne, Jefferson Michigan and St. Joseph streets, statting that they would pay their assessments pro- vided a 10 et. reduction was made from the total cost per sq. yd. of the improvement, for the reason that a sand tiller was used instead of cement. Filed'�- President. Special Meetings 7:15 P.M. The Board met in special session on the above date all members being present,. Hearings were given on the Declaratory Resolutions for the following improvements: Pipe sewer on Hill street from Jefferson to Corby street: pipe sewer on Short Navarre street; pipe sewer on Michigan ave. from Wilber street to College street. The Engr. filed his estimates for said improvements as follows: Hillstreet.....$6400.00; Michigan ave.... $1171.00; Short Navarre ...900.00• No remonstrants appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board find that the benefits to the property affected and to the City of South Bend Are equal to the total cost of the improvement; and said resolutions should be and the same are hereby in all things ratified - confirmed and approved.
