The March 24, 2008 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee of the South
Bend Common Council was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at
3:55 p.m. in the Council's Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included David Varner, Chairperson, Derek D. Dieter, Member, Tom
LaFountain, Vice-President, Henry Davis, Jr., Member; John Voorde, City Clerk
BILL NO. 16-08
Mike Danch, President, Danch, Harner & Associates, 1643 Commerce Drive, South Bend,
Indiana, stated that he is working for the City and explained the bill. He stated that it asks for the
vacation of 2 alleys on the old Studebaker brownfield site along S. Franklin to allow Transpo to
proceed with construction of their new home base. Alley vacation diagram attached. Council
Member Dieter made a motion, seconded by Council Member LaFountain that Bill No. 16-08 be
recommended favorable to Council. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, Dr. Varner adjourned the
Committee meeting at 4:00 p.m.
