Petition for a midnight electric lamp at the corner of Leer and Dubail Avenue referred to the Street Commissioner for a report. Contract signed with the Standard Electric Co. for the wiring of the new cen— tral fire station, contract price 093.00 Pre s ident . May 13, -902. 7215 P. M. The Board again took -up --the assessment roll and final estimate hearing on the Wenger street curb, under Improvement Resolution No. 41 such hearing being postponed hearing of December 30th 1901. A committee of property owners appeared before the Board and again remonstrated against the acceptance of the final -estimate and the confirmation of the assessment roll The City Engineer reported that the work had not yet been put 'in a satisfactory condition and had received no substantial changes since the Boardlast in- spected it. The Board accordingly find that the confirmation of this assessment roll and final estimate should be postponed until Tuesday July ist 1902 at 7:15 P. M The board find that if the work is not satisfactory to the Board and Engineer on that date it will be necessary for the board to readvertise for bids and do the work again. Bearing upon the following street improvements: The grading of Eddy and Mish- awaka, streets,, the Harrison Avenue. -Van Buren street, Dayton street and Fellowsstreet improvements, under Improvement .Resolutions Nos. 62, '63) 640 65, and 66 respectively. In regard to Improvement Resolution No. 62, at tl e suggestion of property owners at the hear- ing, the board decided to add cement curbing and the engineer having presented specifi- cations for such curbing at the time this resolution was adopted the board accordingly do hereby incorporate the construction of cement curbing into this improvement resolution; no remonstrators having appeared said improvement resolution No. G2 is accordingly con- firmed. The engineer filed the estimated cost of such improvement, including the cement curbs, at 4300.00 In regard to -the improvements represented by resolutions 03, 64t 65 and 66 no remonstrators appeaud and no remonstrances were filed. Eddy street, also the construction of cement curbing on said street and the relaying of the sidewalks as more fully specified in the specifications. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "Frances Street Grading" and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifica- tions prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "Notre Dame st. Grading" .and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids for the execution of the above work shall be published on the 20 day of May and on the 27 day of May 1902, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Dail; Times. A petition was received for the extension of this improvement can Mishawaka street as far as the City limits. Accordingly the Board find t", that the all of the bids should be rejected and that the Board should re adve rt i ze for bids to cover the entire improvement. Clerk accordingly instructed to advertise for bids In the -South Bend.Daily._Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times on the 21st and 28th days of May 1902, calling for bids for the grading and construction of cement curbs on Eddy street from the Grand Trunk Western Ry. to Mishawaka street and thence east on Mish- awaka street to the City T imit s, such bids to be received up to June 2nd 1902 at 10 A. M Bids opened for the Harrison Avenue., Van Buren, Dayton and Fellows street imp- rovements, under Improvement Resolutions Nos._ 63, 641, 65 and 66 and turned over to the engineer for tabulation. Hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 8 adopted on Ilay 8th I902. E. Louis Kuhns appeared for himself and for Ida S. Kuhns, Helene S. Ulrich and Harriet Studebaker. Igo. remonstrances were filed and no remonstrators appe4ed. Now come the above mentioned parties and waive notice of assessments and awards under the above resolution and hearing on assessments and awards. The rollof property owners being already in the hands of this board the board find that in consideration of the dedication to the City by the above parties of the hereinafter described property to be used as a public street neither assessments or awards shall be made. N. Me Sherry, under Improvement Resolution Nos. 63, 64 & 65 respectively. Water Works superintent requested to make the tap for a water connection. for the flush tank at the corner of Division and Ohio streets. f President. Engineer requested to prepare specifications for the construction of cement sidewalks and curbs on Notre Dame street from Sorin street to Jefferson street, Also for grading, curbing and sidewalks on Elmira street from Michigan street to Fellows street. Clerk instructed to notify the South Bend Electric Co.. to put a midnight light at the corner of Kenwood Avenue and Olive street. Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Co. requested to put a midnight lamp at the crossing of Olive street. Petitions filed for the grading and curbing of Pennsylvania Avenue; also for a sewer on Rush street from South to Sample street. Plat of Bulla and Pattons Addition to South Bend referred to Engineer for advice and a report; engineer reported same to be all right, accordingly sarae was approved. a President. May.26, 1902. Contracts signed with Wm Me Sherry for Dayton street, Harrison Avenue and Van Buren street, improvQments, under Improvement Resolutions Nos. 63, 64 and 65 respectively i Petition received from St. Louis street property owners asking that the South Bend Electric Company be instructed to so insulate its wires and raise the same so as not to interfere with shade trees. Clerk requested to notify the Company to give the matter attention as soon as possible. Street Con issioner instructed to close the Sample street bridge until the washout at the east end and drain can be repaired. Engineer requested to prepare specifications for paving with brick all of the alleys, exceptsuch as are already bricked, within the block bounded by Vistula Avenue, Washington, Michigan and Jefferson streets. Engineer requested to prepare specifications for a pipe sewer on Scott street from LaSalle to Michigan Avenues. Engineer requested to report to the .next Council as to whether the Three I Ry. track encroaches on Poland street. Clerk requested to notify the South Bend Electric Co.': to raise the wires on West Dunham street from Chapin to McPherson street, or to so arrange the same as not to damage shade trees. Petition for a grade to be established on Linden Avenue from Johnson to Grant street referred to the Engineer. Clerk instructed to notify the South Bend Home Tel'ephona Company and the con- tractor in chare of its work to leave no more gravel upon paved streets but to clean up as fast as Mork progresses • Petitions filed for cement curbing on Sample street from Union to Pulaski streets and cement walks from Wilson to Pulaski streets.
