Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows: The construction of a local pipe sewer on Dubail Avenue from the south Michigan street sewer to a point 1000 feet east near Carroll street. Said improvement shall be• known and designated as "Dubail Avenue Sewer" and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the 6ity Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids for the execution of the above work shall be published on the 11 day of March and on the 18 day of March 1902, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City I3all on the 1 day of April 1902, at 7:15 P. M. and will receive bids up to 10 A. M. on the 8 day of April 1902. In the opinion of the Board this street should be paved with macadam as the travel on the same is light and the cost would be much less. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the 'City of Sou.th`Bend,' Indiana: That it is desirable to vacate the following: The alley running east and west between Parry street and Eddy street between Lots 15 and 16 in Beyer's Addition to the Ctty of South Bend. The following; property ma:;, be injuriously or beneficially effected by such vacation inclusive in Boyer's Addition to the City` of South Bend. Engineer re oprted a grade for Pennsylvania Avenue from tlLi ;h street to I'liami street. Same was 'adopted, approved and filed. Remonstrance of 19 signers filed against the Cushing street sewer. The Board declare the following tracts of land vacated:- Beginning at a stake set in the west one -eight section line of section (1) one, township thirt/-seven (37) north, range two (2) east of second princi- pal meridians at a point six hundred fifteen and one-half N15 1/2) feet north of a stone set for the west one-ight corner in 'the east and west centre line of said section one. Now comes Sam- uel Leeper and waives notice , of award or assessment and hearing on amount of award or assessment under Vacation Resolution No,-9 The Board find that since Samuel Leeper has already dedicated a sufficient strip of land to complete the relocation of this street no assessments need be made and accordingly none are made. Hearing upon the following improvements: Sibley Avenue, College street, Rush street, Niles .-venue, Corby street, St. Peter street Diamond Avenue and Witwer Avenue., under Improvement Resolutions 47, 48P 49) 509 510 52t 53, and 54 respectively. Resolved by the Board of Pu'olic Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That it is desirable .to vacate the following: hive acres of land, situated in the East half ( 1 2) of the South East fractional quarter (1/4) of Section Eighteen (18 ), Township .Thirty seven North; of Range three (3) East, lying immediately South of and adjoining the right of way of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway Company, as located and established October llth 1894; which 5 acres is bounded by a line running as follows, to -wit: Beg- inning on the East line of said quarter section, at a point 66 feet South of the inter- section of said East line, with the South line of said Railway Company's ri ght of way as located and established October llth 1894 as aforsaid, thence running South on the East line of said quarter section, ten (10) rods; thence West eighty (80) rods, to the West line of said half -quarter se ttion; thence North ten (10) rods"to a point within sixty-six (66) feet of said South line of said Railway Company's right of way; thence East eighty (80) rods to the p;ace of beginning containing 5 acres. Street Commissioner instructed to investigate crosswalks on Portage Avenue and repair and replace same where necessary. Engineer reported that at the present time there is no outlet for surface water in the neighborhood of Fassnacht Avenue and Wilbur street and that there is no way of dis- posing of this surface water until a sewer is constructed. Plat of J. C. Knoblocks Subdivision of Lot 39 in Denistion and Fellows Addition was submitted to the Board for approval. Referred to City Engineer for advice. President. Water Works supt . instructed to put a four inch water pipe and valve into the Chapin street sewer at the first manhole north of Sample street. Bond of Hugh Anderson for work in streets and alleys approve. Bids received for sewer and water connections and awarded as follows: East Colfax Avenue sewer connections to L. H. Webster at $8.50 each; East Colfax Avenue water conne'etions to dim Drapier at 017.50 and $12.00 each: Laurel street sewer connections to L. H. Webster at A4.90 each; Wayne street sewer connections to James Nelson at 8 each; water connections to James Aslin at :t17.50 and "13.00 each. Contracts for above work shall be completed on or before April 15. Clerk instructed to publish proposals for bids for the Laurel street water con- nections, same to be received and opened at 10 A.
