Petition of Birdsell Mnfg. Co., to lay a sidetrack from the L. S. and M. S.. Railway -into
lots at the head of Carroll Street, granted on the terms of the petition.
,-Engineer reported plans and specifications for a 12 inch pipe sewer on Ohio Street.
IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. I.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana:
That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as
follows: The construction, of `a
-- -- 12 inch pipe sewer on East Ohio Street from Carroll Street to Michigan Street.
Said improvement shall be known and designated as "Ohio Pipe Sewer." and shall be constructed
according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed here-
with. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids for the execution of the above work
shall be published on the 21st day of March and on the 28th day of Burch, 1901, in the�!South
Bend Daily Tribune and.in the South bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this,
resolution at its office in the City Rall..on the 9th day of April, 1901, at 7:15 p.m and
will receive bids. up to 7015 P.* M. on the l6th day of April, 1901. M
PETITION OF L.C. WHITCOMB ET AL., FOR CEMENT CURBS and SIDEWALKS',
AND. GRADING ON "A" STREET, referred to Engineer for specifications.
Petition of B. W. HEATH et al, for pipe sewer on Clinton Street, referred-'
to Engineer for specifications.
City Engineer authorized to purchase instruments and,articles necessary
for his office to the amount of $500.00, and to report an inventory of all articles in his
office.
Plat of A. G. Cushing's 5th Addition to the City of South Bend, approves
Petition of Del C. Leer and others asking for the grading and curbing and
construction of sidewalks on Leer Street from Vistula Avenue to the City Limits, referred to
the Engineer for specifications.
C. A. McDonald, rebated $65.00 and R. Lyons rebated` $75.00, for errors-
eous sewer assessment.
Engineer reported drawings and specifications fora 12 inch pipe suer
on North Cushing Street -Also for brick pavement on north Walnut street.

IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 2.
.RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows:
The construction of brick pavement on North Walnut Street from the north line of
Nest Washington Street to the north line of Colfax Avenue.
Said improvement shall be known and designated as "North Walnut Brick," and shall be
constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer,
filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids for the execution of the
above work shall be published on the 21st day of March and on the 28th day of March, 1901,
in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a
hearing on this •resolution at its office in the City Hall on the -9th day of April, 1901, at
7:15 p.m., and will receive bids up to 7 p.m., on the 16th day of April, 1901.

RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,INDIANA:
That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows:
The construction of.a 12 inch pipe sewer on North Cushing Street from the north
line of nest Oak Street to the brick sewer on Michigan Avenue.'
Said improvement stall be known and designated as "Cushing Street Sewer," and shall be
constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer,
filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for bids for the execution of the
above work shall be published on the 21st day of March, and on the 28th day of -March, 1901,
in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a
hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 9th day of April, 1901,•
at 7:15 p.m., and will receive bids up to 7:00 p.m., on the 16 th day of April, 1901.

Petition of A. Jaquith to have an alley opened and widened from Prairie Avenue
to Chapin Street filed, and the Engineer instructed to report on advisability of same.
Petition for cement walk and curb on Marietta Street from Bronson Street to
Sample Street referred to Engineer for specifications.
Ordered that the Engineer prepare drawings and specifications to open a 50 ft
street from Michigan to Lafayette Streets in State Bank Out Lots 120 and 125 and report
same to this board.

Petition of property owners on Merry Avenue for curbing and grading, referred to
City Engineer for specifications.
L. S. & M. S. B.R. presented bill for protecting theirtrackg against College
Street sewer. $10.47 Allowed.
Engineer instructed to prepare drawings and specifications for curbing West
Division Street from Michigan to Olive, except where stone or cement curbs are already in.

Petition of property owners for an electric arc light on the corner of north Main
and west Marion streets: midnight light granted. Clerk instructed to communicate the order to
South Bend ElEctric Company.
Engineer instructed to establish a uniform curb line on Leer,.street.
Petition of property owners on north Notre Dame street for grading said street
from east Water street to east Madison street referred to engineer for specifications.
Petition of property owners to grade the alley between south Notre Dame street
and south Frances street from east Jefferson street to east Mayne street referred to the
engineer for specifications.
Petition of W.A. Noland for a rebate of 015. on sewer connections at No. 135 S.
Chapin street referred to engineer for advice
Drawings and specifications for paving north Lafayette street with brick from
west Colfax Avenueto west Navarre -street reported by the engineer and filed. The sewer and
water connections were already Ordered in before this board assumed its duties.
IMPROVEMEENT RESOLUTION NO.4.
Resolved by the Board of Public Works fo the City of South Bend,Indiana: that
an improvement be made of the kind,size,location and terminal points as follows: the paving
of north Lafayette street with brick from the north line of west Colfax Avenue to the north
line of west Navarre street. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "North Lafay—
ette Brick"land shaLL be constructed according to the pLans and specifications prepared by
the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith -Notice of this resolution and proposals for :bids for
the execution of the above work shall be published on the 29th.day of Maxch and on the 5th .
day of Apri1,1901, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times.. This
Board will give -a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall on. the 16thiday
of April 1901,at 7:15 p.m -,and will receive bids up to 7 p.m. on the 16th,day of April 1901.

The construction of a ten and twelve inch pipe sewer on Clinton street from South street to
Sample street. Said improvement shall be. known and designated as "Clinton Sewer" and eall
be oon:structed!-according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer
filed herewith. Notice of this resolution and proposals for the execution of the above work
shall be published on the 30th,day ob March and on the 6th,day of April 1901,in the South
Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this
resolution at its office in the City Mall on the 16th,day of Aprill9Oliat 7:15 p.m,. and
will receive bids up to 7p.m. on the 16th day of April 1901.
Engineer presented drawings and specifications for grading and cement walks and curbs
on "A"street from Michigan Avenue, to the north end of "A"street.

That an improvement be made of the kind,size,location and terminal points as follows:
The construction of cement sidewalks and cement curbs on "A"street from Michigan -Avenue
to the north end of "A"street also grading said street. Said improvement shall-be,known and
designated as "A"street cement and grade" and shall be -constructed according to the plans
and specifications prepared by -the City Civil Engineer file d herewith.Notice of this resole_
tion and proposals for bids for the execution of the work shall.be published on the 10day of
April 1901, in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily, Times. Tj1is_Boaxd
will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall ,on the 23 day of April
1901, at 7:15 p.m., and will receive bids up to 7 p.m. on the 23 day of April 1901.
Ordered that every bid offered to this board be accompanied by a certified check to be
approved by the board and made payable to the board,as a guarantee of the good faith and
responsibility of the bidder.Also ordered that contractors upon execution of their contract
shall file a bond in a sum equal to fifty per cent of the contract price such bond
to be signed by at least two resident freehold sureties or by some surety company in
good standing and authorized to do business in this state.

Ordered that all contractors for modern street improvementswhether brick.asphalt
or creosoted block give a bond to the amount of twenty cents per square yard of the total
amount of the improvement running a period of ten years,signed by four freehold sureties or
by a surety company to the satisfaction of this board,as a guarantee of the permanency of
the pavement for a period of ten yearsfrom the completion of the pavement under the contract
and specifications.

Engineer instructed to prepare 'a report showing. the number -and location of
service pipes for sewer and water connections on north Lafayette street necessary to
accomodate abutting property the material to be used and manner of laying the same
from the mains to points inside the curb.
Ordered that the curb -lints on east Water street from Hill street to Notre
Dame street be -located twenty feet from the property lines.
Petition of Andrew Jaquith for the opening of an alley from south Chapin street
to Prairie Avenue refused.
