SUBJECT: Budget Request: Elwood & Portage Streetscapi: SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

PURPOSE OF REQUEST:
Staff requests that the Redevelopment Commission approve a budget request of $200,000 for
Elwood and Portage infrastructure improvements engineering work. The need for streetscape
improvements along Elwood and Portage Aves. was identified as part of the Portage and
Elwood Neighborhood Center Vision process completed in 2018. This work is anticipated to be
completed in conjunction with AEP's work on a new substation and corresponding underground
lines along Elwood Avenue. Approval of the budget will allow the City to begin engineering
work for the improvements.
