Subject: Council Seeking Citizen Members for Boards & Commissions Date: Friday, January 17, 2020 From: Council President, Tim Scott Contact: 574-538-1936 South Bend Common Council Seeking Citizen Members to Serve on Boards and Commissions The South Bend Common Council is seeking applications from interested and
dedicated individuals who wish to volunteer their time and talents to serve as citizen
members on the following boards and commissions:
• Civic Center Board of Managers • Inclusive Procurement and Contracting Board
• MACOG
• Redevelopment Authority Board • South Bend Advisory Plan Commission
• South Bend Animal Care and Welfare Commission
• South Bend Board of Zoning Appeals • South Bend Redevelopment Commission • TRANSPO Board of Directors
• Urban Enterprise Association
Requirements for citizen members, pursuant to the South Bend Municipal Code
Section 2-58:
• Be available to attend meetings on a regular basis
• Meet specific requirements and qualifications of Board or Commission, if applicable
• Be interested in the subject matter and/or have background on committee’s topics
• Complete an application form by visiting southbendin.gov/bcapp or in person in the City Clerk’s Office on the 4th Floor of the County-City Building in South Bend
Applications to these Boards and Commission are due into the City Clerk’s Office by
Friday, February 14th, 2020. Council Members will interview and select qualified
individuals to serve and it is at the discretion of the Common Council to make their
appointments at their pleasure. All persons selected to serve as citizen members will be
sworn in by the City Clerk and will be required to attend a mandatory training to be held on
Wednesday, March 11th, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. The City Clerk will maintain copies of Oaths of
Office as well as all submitted applications by individuals not selected, in the event that a
vacancy occurs throughout the calendar year (informational only, not disclosable to the
public).
