X.57t9-9-5 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CERTAIN MONETARY FRINGE BENEFITS FOR FIREFIGHTERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DURING THE CALENDAR YEARS 1995 AND 1996. Statement of Purpose and Intent In 1993, the South Bend Common Council passed certain ordinances fixing the annual pay and monetary fringe benefits of Firefighters of the South Bend Fire Department for the calendar years 1994 through 1996 . At the time of passage of the Fire Department' s salary ordinances of 1993, the South Bend Fire Department was in the process of establishing a confined space rescue team, and it was agreed by the City Negotiating Team and the Wage Committee of the South Bend Firefighters Association, Local No. 362, that the final determination of the appropriate amount of specialty pay for the members of that team could not be adequately determined until it was more clearly known what the duties, responsibilities and training requirements of the members of the team were. The South Bend Fire Department is now ready to fully implement its Confined Space Rescue Team. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows : Section I. Confined Space Specialty Pay Paragraphs 4 and 5 of Section III of Ordinance No. 8397-93 are amended to read as follows : 4 . Hazmat . For regularly assigned firefighters who meet the requirements of the Fire Department' s Hazardous Materials Response Team: 1994 1995 199G $772 $800 $820 5 . Confined Space Rescue. - - - ' -- Department establishes a Confined Space Rescue Team, For regularly assigned firefighters who meet the requirements of the Confined Space Rescue Team: -shall be paid not less than $350 in 1995 and 199G . : 1995 1996 Level I $ 600 $ 600 Level II $1, 000 $1, 020 Level I of the Confined Space Rescue Team are those firefighters who meet the State' s requirements for Confined Space Rescue and are assigned to the Confined Space Rescue Team. Level II of the Confined Space Rescue Team are those firefighters who meet the State' s requirements for both Confined Space Rescue and Hazardous Material Handling and are assigned to both the Confined Space Rescue and Haz/Mat Teams . Section II. Effective Date. As you recall, during budget hearing process,you approved our recommendation for adjustments in Haz/Mat and Confined Space incentive pays for 1995 and 1996. The adjustments took into consideration the creation of the Confined Space Rescue Team which will go into operation early 1995. I respectfully request your passage of this Ordinance. In Section 4, the only language that should be crossed out is 1995 - $800 and 1996 - $820.00. Also, Section II, is amended as follows: Section II . Effective Date.
