AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROVING
THE SALE OF PARK PROPERTY
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City of South Bend, Indiana, for the use and benefit of
its Park Department and/or Board of Park Commissioners
(hereinafter, the "Park Department") owns certain real property
located at Sample-Ewing Development Area, and being more
particularly described below, (hereinafter, the "Real Property") .
Pursuant to I .C. 36-10-4-9 (a) , said lands are under the exclusive
control of the Board of Park Commissioners of the Park District
of the City of South Bend (hereinafter, the "Park Board") .
The Real Property, land comprising Dean Johnson Park and
other miscellaneous lots in an area designated by the South Bend
Redevelopment Commission as the Sample-Ewing Development Area
(SEDA) . The Real Property is no longer needed for park purposes .
At its meeting of February 20, 1995, the Park Board
determined that the Real Property is not required for park
purposes and authorized the sale of the Real Property to the City
of South Bend Department of Redevelopment for use in connection
with redevelopment activities within the SEDA, including the
clearance of land for a new juvenile detention facility.
The Park Board and Redevelopment Commission have committed
to cooperate in the development of plans to replace Dean Johnson
Park with alternate park facilities in the SEDA.
Pursuant to I .C. 36-11-1-3, Common Council approval of the
Sale of the Real Property is required.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS :
Section I . The sale of the following Real Property to the
City of South Bend, for the use and benefit of its Department of
Redevelopment, for the sum of $1 . 00 per lot, is approved.

Approving the Sale of Park Property
Dear Mr. Ladewski:
I am attaching for filing, an Ordinance of the Common
Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, Approving the Sale of
Park Property. The property in question comprises Dean Johnson
Park, as well as a number of miscellaneous lots in the Sample-
Ewing Development Area. The Park Board has approved the transfer
of this land to the South Bend Redevelopment Commission so that
it may be used to further redevelopment activities in the Sample-
Ewing Development Area, including the new juvenile detention
center. The Redevelopment Commission has assured the Park Board
that replacement facilities will be established elsewhere in the
Sample-Ewing Development Area and that it will work with the Park
Board to develop a plan concerning the same.
