2019 Project Highlights and Takeaways
• Sidewalk Repair Program distributed all annual funds for the first time this year
• New Zoning Ordinance creates opportunity for rezonings and streamlined building permit applications
• State legislation change will allow for differential billing of water and sewer fees, which will be implemented in
2020 in partnership with Real Services
• Implementation of the RSVP Ordinance has been a heavy lift, but staff already see positive outcomes
• City Climate Action Plan will require future policies soliciting participation from residents and businesses, not just
City-implemented changes, in order to meet targets
• Proactive maintenance of fire hydrants and waterline valves make it easier to respond to resident needs
Other Topics Discussed
• 2018 Community Survey responses are aligned with current Departmental priorities and the upcoming
2020 survey provides a chance to collect data on progress toward these goals
2020 Prospective Projects
• Sidewalk repair and street resurfacing programs need to be analyzed to establish performance targets and appro-
priate funding levels in response to community priorities
• Residents require education about trash pickup, as well as separating trash and yard waste, in addition to poten-
tial changes to how citations are issued
• Owners of vacant commercial properties can be incentivized to activate the space through ordinances encourag-
ing varied uses, in addition to developing a plan to cite properties that are not well-maintained
• Opportunities exist to document historic program investment and growth, including Neighborhood Cleanups,
Home Repair, and SBARC
