AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING
$240, 000.00 FROM THE PARK MAINTENANCE FUND
(FUND NO. 201)
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The City of South Bend has been awarded a federal grant for
extension of the riverwalk system, east of the old Sample Street
bridge. A condition of the receipt of the federal funds is a
contribution of local funds . The Common Council has determined
that it is in the best interests of the City to appropriate
$240, 000 . 00 from the Park Maintenance Fund to satisfy this
condition and to fund a portion of the construction costs and to
fund the design costs of this project .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I . The following sum of money is hereby appropriated
and ordered set apart from and within the Park Department Park
Maintenance Fund (Fund No. 201) for the local share of the
riverwalk extension project .

Section II . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by

Dear Mr. Ladewski :
I am attaching for filing an Ordinance appropriating
$240, 000 . 00 from the Park Maintenance Fund to supplement the
federal grant awarded to the City of South Bend, to be used to
extend the Northside Boulevard Walkway\Bikeway an additional
mile. The extension will occur from the Sample Street bridge to
Memorial Park Boat Launch. The overall costs are projected to be
as follows :
Construction Costs
Federal Funds $640, 000
Local Funds $160, 000
Design Costs
Design Fees $ 80, 000
Total Cost : $880, 000
The funds appropriated by the attached ordinance will fund
the City' s share of the construction costs, as well as the design
costs .
