PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION MARCH 5, 2008
The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:08 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5,
2008 with Board President Donald L. Alford and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Patrick D.
Cottrell, and Jack Reed present. Board Member Bruce J. BonDurant was absent. Also present were
Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13"' Floor, County City
Building, South Bend, Indiana,
Board members discussed the following items from that list.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned at 8:17 a.m.

EXECUTIVE SESSION MARCH 5, 2008
The Board of Public Safety met in the Executive Session on Wednesday, March 5,2008, at 8:30 a.m.
The meeting was held in the Mayor's Office, 14"' Floor, County City Building, South Bend, Indiana,
for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and (b) (6) (A). Board President Donald
Alford and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Patrick Cottrell, and Jack Reed were present, Board

Member Bruce J. BonDurant was absent. Also present were Police Chief Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief
Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar, Board members did not discuss any subject
matter other than the subj ect matter as specified in the Public Notice. The meeting adjourned at 9:10
a.m.

REGULAR MEETING MARCH 5 �2008
The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008,
with Board President Donald Alford and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Patrick D. Cottrell, and
Jack Reed present. Board Member Bruce J. BonDurant was absent. Also present were Police Chief
Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar.
The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13"' Floor, County City
Building, South Bend, Indiana.
APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Board President Donald Alford advised that if there were no objections by members of the Board, the
minutes of the Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular meetings of the Board held
on February 13, 2008 would be accepted as submitted.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
ACCEPT DONATION
In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Darryl Boykins advised the Board of a generous donation from
the St. Joseph County Library in the amount of $125.00. The donation is for the K9 Unit for their
participation in the library's Science Alive Program. There being no further discussion, the donation
was accepted.
President Alford indicated that unless there were questions or objections by members of the
Board, the statistical report for the month of January 2008 as submitted by the Police Department,
would be accepted for filing. There being no objections, the following report was accepted for filing:

ACCEPT DONATION
In a letter to the Board, Chief Buchanon advised the Board of a generous donation from Pete and
Ern my Lou Papandria. The donation of $25.00 was a gift of appreciation to the South Bend Fire
Department for their professionalism and attitude that was so helpful to Mr. Papandria on January
23, 2008. There being no further discussion, the donation was accepted.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no her business to come before the Board, President Alford declared the meeting
adjourned at 9:19 a.m.
