AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $110,000.00
FROM THE
LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT:
In order to meet existing and proposed traffic demands and to provide for safe and efficient
movement of vehicles, it has become necessary to design an interchange which will allow traffic to
move from St. Joseph Valley Parkway to Nimtz Parkway.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AS FOLLOWS:
Section I: The following sum of money is hereby appropriated and ordered set apart from
the Local Road and Street Fund for the project in the amount set forth below:

251-0608-431.42-59 Nimtz Parkway/St. Joseph Valley Parkway Interchange $ 110,000.00
Section II: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the
Common Council and approval by the Mayor.

Dear Mr. Kelly:
I am presenting for filing, an ordinance appropriating $110,000 from the Local Road and
Street Fund to be used for the design of an interchange allowing traffic to flow from St. Joseph
Valley Parkway to Nimtz Parkway. The total design cost of this project is $305,000. The
remaining $195,000 is being appropriated through a separate ordinance from T.I.F. funds. I
might also add that the State of Indiana is leveraging $4.9 million from the Toll Road for the
construction portion of this project.
Thank you for your consideration. The Council's favorable disposition of this matter is
respectfully requested.
