Board met.in regalar session at IoA.T. all members present.
Be it Resolved,by the Board of Public Works of the .City of ;South Bend,Indiana,
that from a -,id after the adoption of this Resolution,all persons,corporations
and companies using telephone,telegraph,electric light or electric power poles
and wires within the City of South Bend,be required bef'oee erecting any poles
in any of the streets or alleys of said City,to first submit to the Board. of
Public works of said City a detailed statement: of the proposed extension of said
wires and the proposed erection of poles,designating specifically where said.
proposed extension shall begin and where it shall terminate and for what specific
purpose said proposed extension is made,and shall designate the location of each
and all of said poles. And all said persons,corporations or companies shall
before the commencement of any such improvement obtain an order from the Board of
Public works ,of said City,approving of said proposed extension and improvement
and authorizing the same.
Providedd,however,that in case of emergency any such person,corporation or. company
so desire to erect poles and wires may set not- to exceed three poles and atteteh
wires thereto without first obtaining the approval of the Board of Public works ;
but said person,corporation.or companieo desiring to set said poles shall immediat
-ely Pile a report with the Board of Public works, ,,-Aving the exact location of
each pole so set, and a general outline of the work cone. And in the event that
said Board of Public Works finds,after inspecting said work,that said poles
and wires have not been prope rly set,and properly loca;ted,then and in that event
such persons,corporation or company,so placing said poles,shall remove the same
at their own expense,and replace them so as to meet the approval of said Board
of Public works.
Contract awarded to the M. V. Cheesma,n Co. of Mishawaka. Ind.for the building
and erecting of a new Iron Stack for the Cremetory for the consideration of
$500.00 as per. specifications filed with the City Engineer.
