The Board met in regular sessionat 10 A. M. All members present
ORDINANCE NO. 1. 1909.
Be it ordained by the Board of Public Works of the City Of South Bend, Indiana,
that the following rules and regulations are hereby approved and adopted for the
proteetion•of.the parks in said City of South Bend, Indiana:
Rule 1. No person, or persons shall ride or drive any horse or other'animal,
or any carriage, buggy or other vehicle along Ior upon any of the drive ways within
any of the parks of this City at such an immorderate rate of speed as to endanger"
any persons standing or walking or riding therein.
Rule 2. No deliverer wagons, delivery trucks or heavy teamster's wagons shall
be allowed to drive over the park drives or boulevards.
, Rule 3. No horse, or horses or other animal or animals shall be left unguarded
or unattached by the driver, unless properly hitched at such place -or places as
are designated for the same.
Rule 4. No person, or persons shall pick, gather or take any flowers, either
wild or cultivated, growing within any park in said City, or walk upon any of the
flower or shrubbery beds; nor. shall any person or persons pick, cut down -or injure
in any way or manner any of the trees, shrubs or flowers within said parks.
Rule 5. No person, or persons shh 1.break, cut, write upon, discolor, or
otherwide disfigure any seat, bench, swing. fence or other structure within any
of said parks.
Rule 6. No person, or persons shall be allowed to play base -ball within any
of the parks, or within the limits of the same.
Rule 7. No person, or persons shall be allowed to fish in, or.take from any
of the ponds, either artificial*or natural, any fist from the same.
Rule S. No person, or persons shall be allowed to sleep, loiter, orlie down
on any bench, siring or other structure within the parks.
Rule 9. No person, ozpersons shall be allowed to discharge any gun, pistol,
revolver, fire -cracker, or other fire arms within the limits of any of the parks. -
Rule 10. No person, or personG shall be allowed to enter upon, or loiter aroun;
or within the limits of any of the parks of this city after twelve (12) o'clock
midnight.
Any person or persons violating an,. of the rules or regulations of this ordinance
shall be fined in any stun not less than Ten ($10.00) Dollars nor more than fifty
($50.00) Dollars, and each violation of the same shall be considered a separate and
distinct offense.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and legal publication.

Engineer filed assessment rolls -and final estimates for Pipe Sewers -on Webster
street from Sample street to Huron street; Miami street from Bowman street to Fox street;
Harrison avenue from Michigan avenue to Quincy street and on Pennsylvania avenue & High
street from Wenger street to Michigan street, all under Improvement Resolutions No-s.
511, 513, 514 & 521 respectively.
Resolved, that.notiees as to the amounts of assessments be published for six
consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Times, commencing on the 23rd day of May, 190$.1)
stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its
office in the City Hall on the 9th day of June, 1909, at 7:15 P. M.
Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts be accepted and
approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this resolution shall be
published on the 23rd day of May, 1909, in the South Bend Daily Times., stating that this
Board will -give a hearing on the acceptance of such work at its office in the City Hall
on the 9th day of June, 1909, at 7:15 P._M.
Hearing given on Assessment Roll and final estimate for Brick Pavement on
California street from Woodward_avanue to DeMaude avenue under Improvement Resolution #44G
No remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were -filed. The Board therefore
find.that the property assessed in said rolls filed May 1st, 19091, is benefitted in the,
amount of assessments as shown on saidt rolls, and the Board further find that the a
assessment roll filed May lst, 1909, and the final estimate allowed May 111908$
should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
Bonds of Chas. Coussens & Co released on the Cherry street Pipe Sewer and those of
C. H. Defrees released on the DeMaude avenue Brick Pavement and the California street
Brick Pavement.
Lights ordered turner on in the City Parks.
Light ordered installed at the Corner of Campau street and Coquillard street and
one at the Corner of Thomas street & Laurel street.
