Ho sing Authority letter of August 12, 1968 to Mr 'Bellinger COMMUNICATIONS states, ii reply to Redevelopment Department's letter of August_ 8,, 1968, tha certain LaSalle Park residents -in need of low - cost -hods ing have of registered for public housing. Housing is urgently needed fo approximately 13 LaSalle Park families, and, therefore. Mr. Scott will assist these families in re- registering at tht Hous- ing Authority and, at the same time, secure a statement of verifi cation of registration. As a follow-up of the Commission's request for the staff 'in vestigate the possibility of controlling.the Leased Housing Program, Mr. Bellinger reported that, at this- ,timei', he would not recommend, such a move because of the lack of staff to operate the program.` A meeting is anticipated with appropriate_City officials to in= vestigate ways of improving the Leased Housing Program. A study is being developed by the staff and appropriate personnel and it appears evident that not all alleys originally proposed for vacation will actually be vacated. A more detailed report on the alleys can be relayed to the Commis- sion by the next Commission meeting. e. Wo kable Program. The Workable Program submission is in Chicago u der review. Recertification of the program must be se- cured bef;'re South Bend can expect funding of the Central Down- town Proj ct, R -66. In working toward the goal of recertifica- tion, the Mayor's Advisory Committee has been restructured and meetings re now being held regularly. Also, the Mayor has establish d a Central Relocation Bureau and has directed the Re- developme t Department to develop the plans for effective opera- tion of r location services for families living anywhere in the City that have been asked to move because of City action. The next regular meeting of the Redevelopment Commission will be at 10 :30 A.M., September 5, 1968, in the office of the Redevelop ent Department. 7. ADJOURNMENT On mot 11:50 A.M.
