Petition for grade, curb and walk and sewer on Portage Avenue from Kinyon. to City Limits, received, read and referred to the City Civil Engineer to be reported as to the assessed value of abutting property. Petition received and read for light at corner of Hastings Street and. Sixth Street was referred to the Street Commissioners. '✓ Mr. Hugh Anderson, Contractor appeared before the Board and asked for an extention of time, t'oveomplete grade; curb and walk on Corby Street, Under Improvement Resolution No. 141. Same was granted until May 15th. 1913s, and was approved by the Board. In the matter of hearing on Declaratory Resolution No. 221 for Grade, curb and walk and Concrete Pavenue on Prairie Avenue from Webster Street to Grant Street. . In the above matter remonstrators appeared but no remonstrances was filed. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvement and the same are hereby in all things ratified, co -firmed firmed and approved. Resolved further that notices be published on the 23rdt 4ay of , April 1913 and on the 30tho, day of April 1913 do the, South Bend Daily Dimes, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvement up to 10: 00 A.M. on the 13th.gay of May 1913- The Board reserves the right to . re ject any and all bids. ✓Contractors bond for One Thousand ($1,000.00)Dollars signed by Joseph Szweda as prinicipal and W. R. Grzesk and Chas. V. Korpal as sureties, was approved by the Board. ,/ Excavation bond for One Thousand ( 1,000.00)Dollars signed by Aslin Pl-umbing Co. as prinicipal and John H. Mitchell and John F. Macht as sureties, was approved by the Board. ZBids were received and opened and read for the Street Lighting in River Park for the ensuing five years and the same were referred to the City Attorney with duplicate contracts for his inspection. The Board approved of the replacing of four Central Union Telephone Company poles on the south side of Kenyon Street, starting with the first pole at Portage Avenue and Kenyon Street.West from Portage Avenue. Permission granted Ind. &.Mich. Elea. Co. The Board approved of the setting of one 35t pole in the first alley south of Indiana Avenue just east of Kendall Street, to the Indiana and Michigan Electtfc Co. / Contract band for the amount of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars signed by Joseph E. Archambeault,of South Bend, Indiana as principal and the Title Guaranty & Surety Company, as sureties, was approved by the Board for grading the 1st. alley South of .Madison Street from Notre Dame Street to Francis Street also the grading of the alley south from Madison Street to the aforesaid intersecting east and west alley . ,/The contract for the Bovmsax Creek Trunk sewer, under Improvement Resolution No. 1Q1, was awarded to The Inter —State Construction Company. 771 1913- Continued. The City Engineer submitted the list of property owners in the matter of the appropriation of certain property under Condemnation Resolution Number 2# which list in— cludes the names of the owners and holders of property and of interests tllerein sought to .be taken or beneficially or injuriously effected, and the description of the several piece's of property which is affected by the said appropriation proceedings. Thereupon the Board proceeded to award the damages sustained and to assess the .benefits accruing to each piece of property upon said, list. It w€-sr thereupon, upon motion duly made and seconded and unanimously adopted, resolved that, said list, together with the amounts B benefits and damages and net benefits and`net damages therein set forth as to the several parcels of land be adoped :_nd ordered spread upon this record by reference, and that the respective amount a benefits contained in said List be and are hereby awarded to the several tracts of land as specifically set forth in said list, and that the.net benefits or net damages, as to the respective tracts of land, contained in said list are hereby awarded or assessed, as the case may be as •,too the said several tracts of land. The Board hereby further sets off the benefits and damages each against the other where bth benefits and damages are assessed against the same piece of property, tract of land erinterest ,`and hereby fixes said respective net benefits as the amount that shall be paid by the respective owners as benefits, and further hereby fixes the respective net damages as to the several tracts as the amount that shall be paid to the owners of the re— spective tracts as -damages. Thereupon, upon moti�pl duly made and seconded and unanimously adopted, the -1J3th=,day of June,' 1913�as'4Axed as the day on which this Board will receive or hear remonstrances from persons with regard to the amount of their respective awards or assess— ments, and the clerk of this Board was instructed to prepare and cause to be duly and legally given, notices to the owners of -each parcel of property, showing the amount of the assessment or award, with a description of the property affected, and the date of said hearing. Gentlemen: - We will be pleased to renew our contract for the thirty (30)Welsbach Bou- levard gas lamps we are now operating in what is known as River Park, the lamps to be lighted every might and burn from dusk to 12 o'clock midnight, we to furnish all gas, mantles, glassware and other supplies necessary for the prbper operation of said lamps, it being understood that the City of South Bend. is to furnish and pay a max for light- ing, extinguishing, cleaning and caring for said lamps, contract to be for five years. commeneing May first,1913, and ending April ';;Oth. 1919, at the rate of $16.00 per lamp per year. We will ali;9 install and operate in River Park during the life of this con- tract additional lamps.as above at the sai ' ne rate of compensation, it being understood, however,, that all. lamps when once installed are to remain in service until the expir- atiox of the contract. This proposition is intended to conform with your advertisement for street lighting hereto attached. Resolved by the Hoard that Improvement Resolution No 230 for purpose of enstruction of -grade, curb and walk on Oakside Street be modified to read as follows: — By grading and curbing only said street and the same are hereby in all things_,ratified, confirmed and approved. In the above matter remonstrators appeared but no remonstrance was filed. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvement that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvement' and resolved by the Board that Improvement Resolution No. 237 for grade, curb and walk on Medora Street be modified to read as follows: - Grading and curbing only -of the aforenamed street, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Resolved further, that notices be published on the 30th, day of April 1913 and on the ✓7th, , dday or May t 1,913 in the South Bend Daily Times, stating that this Board will 'receive bids for tree construction of said improvements up to 10: 00 A.M. on the 20th.,1ay of May,1913. Line of Morris Park Addition. In .the above matter remonstrators appeared but their was no remon- strance filed. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvement that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal `to the estimated cost -of said improvement, and the Board resolved that Improvement Resolution No.'236 for the purpose of construction of grade, curb and walk on Missoula Avenue be modified to read as follows. By grading and curbing only of the aforesaid street, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Resolved further that notices be published. on the .30th.,day of April 1Q13 and on the 7th. , day of, Mar, -'.913 in the South Bend Daily Times, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvement up to 10:00 A.M. on the 20th.d.ay of May 1913. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Declaratory hearing given on Improvement Resolution No. 227 for pipe sewer on Birdsell street `from 1st. alley South of Fassnacht Avenue to a point about 80 feet north of Linden Avenue. In the above matter remonstrators appeared and a remonstrance was filed. The Board therefore after due consideration decided to defer all action until May 9th. 1913 at 7:45 P.M. /Declaratory hearing given on Improvement Resolution No. 240 for pipe sewer on Adams Street from Michigan Avenue to Vassar Avenue. In the above matter remonstrators appeared and but no further , remon- stran.ce .was filed. The Board after due oonsideration decided to defer all action on same until May Friday the 9t h. 1913 at 7: 45 P.M. Declaratory -hearing given on Improvement Resolution No. 235. for pipe sewer on Union Street. In the ebove matter non remonstrators appeared and no remonstrance was filed. The Board therefore find'in each and every case in said improvement that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvement and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated nett of said improvements and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved.
