SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
September 17, 2019, 10:00 AM
731 S. Lafayette Blvd, South Bend, IN 46601
Members present: Jonathan Jones, Toy Villa, Darwin Shipley, Brad Rohrscheib
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:07 AM by President Rohrscheib.
2. Approval of minutes
Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Jones the minutes from the previous
meeting, September 3rd was approved unanimously
3. Approval of Special Event Permits
Block Parties
a. LaSalle: Twyckenham to Jacob – October 6th
Closure occurs from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Has held this block party in past with no
issues. T/L will drop cones for them to close off.
Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Shipley, the permit is approved
unanimously
4. Other Business
Amending the agenda to discuss Mama’s Against Violence Annual Walk. President
Rohrscheib had received a flyer promoting this event on September 25th from 6:00 PM to
8:00 PM with the information from his chief that a route needed to be provided for
participants to follow. Confusion arose with the submission of an application for the date
of September 21st. We have tried to reach out to Shay Davis (Mayor’s Office) as well as
the event coordinator Bobbie Woods to seek clarification. There has been no response
on their end. Application fee also has not been submitted.
Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Villa, the permit was tabled unanimously
due to lack of information provided.

2. Adjournment
With no additional business, Rohrscheib motioned for adjournment and Shipley
seconded. The meeting ended at 10:42 AM.
