PROGRESS REPORT As, of this week, there will be 50 parcels closed in the CHAPIN Chapin Street Project Area.. There are 74 either closed STREET or under option, which represents about 60% of the total R--29 area. On motion made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Helmen R-29 and unanimously carried, the Commission authorized the $600,000 investment of $600,000 of the $970,000 Chapin Street INVESTMENT Indiana -29 Preliminary Loan Notes in U. S.-Treasury- Bills, a follows $300,000 for six monthsp $200,000 for thre months; and $100,000 for 30 -days. On motion made by Mr. Wiggins, secondedby Mr. Helmen and unanimously carried, the Commission approved the submittal of a revised H1 --1'A Form H -6144 - Request for Concurrence In Acquisition Prices covering four parcels to the Regional Office i Chicago„ -4- R -29 CONCURRENCE IN ACQUISI- TION PRICES IV. PR GRESS REPORT - Continued On motion made by Mr. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Wiggins EVICTION and un imously carried, the Commission concurred that NOTICE eviction notice be served on tenant in the Chapin Street R-29 R---29 Area, Parcel No. 4--2, due to non - payment of rent. A proposed contract for engineering services in the`Chapin ENGINEER- Street Project was referred to the LPA Attorney for study ING R--29 and recommendation. The Co fission decided to ask the owner of Parcel 15 -6 PARCEL in the Sample Street Project to rebuild the small office 15 -6 building to acceptable standards, or else it will acquire the parcel. Representatives of the LaSalle Park District Council LA SALLE inquired about the status of the Eligibility Study that, PARK was made there. They were informed that the report was_- DISTRICT transmitted to URA for approval, and that word should be R -41 received within approximately two to four weeks. On motion made by Mr,. Helmen, seconded by Mr. Wiggins and CONTRACT unanimously carried, the Commission approved the Contract, WITH LPA for Leg 4l Services of Bruce C. Hammerschmidt, attorney. ATTORNEY The Coy fission approved the printing of 500 copies of the annual eport for the Redevelopment Department. Mr. Nowak discussed the feasibility of asking the South Bend Tribune to run a story on some of the problems in the Chapin Street Project. Donald Wiggins was appointed to explore this possibility. Mr. Sucher reported that the Trustees' meeting with the Commission held for the purpose of discussing ways and means of accelerating industrial redevelopment in the Sample Street Project Area (Innerbelt Industrial Park) will be held February 17, 1964, 3 :30 p.m., at the Rede -- velopme t Commission Office. -5- ANNUAL REPORTS.,. - PUBLIC RELATIONS MISC.
