On motion made-by Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Helmen and unani-
mously carried, claims for payment totaling $1,897.89 were endor-
sed bv the Commission.

IV.
ROGRESS REPORT
Mr. Sucher reported to the Commission that inasmuch as PARCEL
the cwner of Parcel #13 -11 in the Sample Street Project ##13 -11

ment nor the Appraisers into the premises, the Redevelop-
ment Department proposes to take the minimum appraisal
made from outside and send a registered letter to the
owne offering that amount. This was approved by the
Commission.
Mr, Eielicki, Relocation Supervisor, proposed a rent RENT
reduction on Parcel ##2 -11 from $35 to $10. This is due REDUCTION
to the fact that the property, which was formerly a PARCEL
grocery store, is no longer occupied but is used to
store equipment until the owner disposes of it, which
show d be about a month. The Commission granted the
rent reduction on this parcel.
Mr. Bielicki also reported that as of the end of December RELOCATION
217 families have been relocated. A survey of the struc- DEPARTMENT
tures which have not yet been acquired revealed 51 fami-
lies, 21 businesses and 42 individuals. Current workload:
11 families (6 singles, 5 commercials). 135 families
relocated into standard sales housing; rental housing
total is 55; away from City total of 19.
Mr. O. C. Denniston, Denniston Realty Co., appeared be-
fore the Commission and requested a rent increase for
the space now occupied by the South Bend Redevelopment
Commission, 129 W. Colfax St., from $270 to $295 per
month. It was agreed by the Commission to draw up a
lease for 3 years, the first year (1962) at $270 and
$295 for the next 2 years, subject to the approval by
the S uth Bend Common Council of appropriations for,
rents for the subsequent 2 years.

Mr. Frank Hartwig, Executive Director of the Committee COMMITTEE
