unani ously carried, claims for payment totaling $36,678.90
were ndorsed by the Commission.

IV. RESOLUTION NO. 35
Upon motion made by Mr. Place, seconded by Mr. Williams, and unani-
mously carried, the Commission passed the following resolution:
In order to expedite land acquisition and project execution,
tenants who have failed to pay their rental may be evicted.
Such eviction shall not be earlier than 30 days after the
rent due date. Evictions shall be preceded by the sending
of such notices as.are required -by the-laws of the.State of
Indiana. Counsel for the Commission is hereby authorized to
take necessary steps to evict tenants failing to pay rent,
and, if necessary, to institute suit for the possession of
the premises and the collection of back rental, all subject
to the provisions of this resolution. Action on hardship
cases is to be commenced only with the specific approval
of the Commission.
V. FEASIBILITY STUDY - SOUTH BEND CENTRAL AREA
Mr Iewis Haber reported that upon consulting with Mr. Herod,
Director of _Chicago Urban Renewal Administration,. he was-:informed
by Mr. Herod that an urban .renewal feasibility . study .for _the
city's central area could save.months,when the-time, comes to work
out comprehensive planning program for the district.
Mr. Sucher stated that to date he has received no estimates from
the three firms,who were contacted-to submit -bids for this programs

Providence, R. I. As soon.as.an answer is received from the
�three firms, the Commission will take action:,

Mrs.. Josephine Curtis, Member of Relocation-Committee, = -Relocation
Mino ity Problems Committee and Urban.-Redevelopment, -. -& Minority
Trustee, submitted a report on families left-for re- Housina
location. Of thirty --five families, eight families
represented-problems: They consist of either minority
grou s, large families; or families.with poor house
keeping standards._ Members of the Relocation Committee
have taken it,upon themselves to donate paint;. rollers;:
and upplies needed .to teach and: -acquaint these ; families _ , -
with good housekeeping methods. Mrs. Curtis requested

the Commission if it were possible to use rent proceeds
from the Sample Street Project Area to---pay,-for additional
necessary supplies, in order- for the - SRelocation =- Committee
to continue with its work.
Mr. aer, LPA-.Counsel, stated -that opinion-- -from HHFA will
be o tained to determine if rental income can be used to
impr ve standards of people in the relocation area.

Mr. Sucher advised the Commission that he has received
appr ximately.. four =or five - applications for the. }ob.of -
Assistant Executive Director, and that one of the
applicants, Mr. Charles Thomas,Munson;: -.of Milwaukee,-,-,
Wisconsin, will be available for an interview by the
Personnel Committee at 2 :00 p.m. today. Mr. Williams
and Mr. Place stated they would be able to be on hand
for the interview.._
Mr. Sucher reported that some property owners who are
dissatisfied with the prices -- offered by the Urban
Redevelopment Department would consider moving their
houses at no cost to =- them. The Commission granted
authorization to Mr. Sucher to contact HHFA, Chicago,
regarding the moving of such homes from their present
sites, provided they are not substandard.

The Commission executed the Re —Use Appraisal Contracts Re —Use
for the Sample Street - Project - Area, Indiana R =7, with Appraisal
Mid— erica Appraisal Corp. and Roy Wenzlick and Co. Contracts
for the amount of $1600.
Mr. B er, LPA Counsel, reported that he had forwarded
the c ntract for engineering services submitted by
Chas. W. Cole & Son, Engineers and Architects, to the
Commi sion to HHFA, Chicago, and they in turn made
sugge tions which have been passed on to 16. Cole.

VI. PROGRESS REPORT - Continued
The Commission was advised that public liability insur-
ance and insurance for non - owned automobiles used by
the Redevelopment Department expires August 8, 1961.
Mr. Place made a motion, seconded by Mr. Koczan, and
unanimously carried, to renew the policy with Michael
Barany Insurance Co.
Reappr isals on parcels 9 -17 and 12 -47 were presented
to the Commission. Upon motion made by Mr. Williams,
second Ed by Mr. Place, and unanimously carried, the
Commission authorized the submission of a revised
Form H 6144, Request For Concurrence In Acquisition
Prices, covering these two parcels.
The Commission unanimously approved that three repre-
sentatives of the Redevelopment Department attend
NAHRO Convention to be held October 29th through
November 1, 1961, in Washington, D. C.
