PROGRESS REPORT
It was .-eported to the Commission and to the Rehabilitation
and Cod Administration Committee that rehabilitation will
be one f the most important parts in our program. Accord-
ing to the 1950 census, 12% of South Bend's homes were sub- Report to Re-

It was proposed to the members of the Rehabilitation & Code
Adminis ration Committee that they could be instrumental in
helping create favorable public opinion to make possible
systema is enforcement of the Housing Code.
In order to keep all ten of the Redevelopment Committees
abreast of current happenings, it was decided that all per- Added

to each member. All members of these committees are invited'

Mr. Bie icki, Relocation Supervisor, reported that vacant
units in the project area are being subjected-to vandalism. Relocation

A bill ias been introduced which would amend the Indiana Planning
Statute. Senate Bill 39 would, in effect, revoke the Subdivi-
sion Regulation power of planning commissionsz This would make
it diff' cult for cities engaged in Urban Renewal to meet the
federal "Workable Program" requirements. Senate Bill 39 has
been pa sed by the Senate and is presently in the House. Senate

Upon approval by the Commission, a letter to Representative's
Otto Po gay, Donald Yeagley and Howard W. Snyder of the House
was sen explaining the difficulty such a bill would cause if
it is a proved.
