The Public earing was opened by Mr. Fred J. Helmen, President, who explained
the purpose f the hearing and read the public notice regarding it.
No written r monstrances or objections were filed, nor were there any oral objections
to the project.
A number of ersons in the audience of about fifty asked questions, generally about the
timing of various steps in carrying out the project. They were told by members of the
Commission that purchasing of properties would begin, probably, in the Fall of this
year and take until sometime in 1962 to complete. They were also assured that they
would be given sufficient time after purchase to find suitable standard rehousing; that
aid in finding housing would be available from the Commission's Relocation Field Office
to be opened in the project area sometime in July.
