REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Regular Meeting Redevelopment Commission Office 129 West Colfax Avenue The South Bend Redevelopment Commission, Governing Body of the City of South Bend, Department of Redevelopment met in regular meeting at 129 West Colfax Avenue in the City of South Bend, Indiana at 11:00 A.M. on the Firs t day of September, 1960. The eeting was called to order by Mr. James G. Louis, Secretary. The follo ing were _ present: r. James G. Louis, Secretary r. Frank G. Koczan r. Virgil A. Place and the following were absent: Mr. Fred J. Helmen, President Mr. Clyde E. Williams, Sr., Vice - President The Pecretary declared a quorum present. Also present: I. r. Henry Sucher, Executive Director r. James 1-11. Neidigh, Assistant Planning Director r. Frederick K. Baer, Attorney r. C. C. Fry, Real Estate Negotiator r. Edward J. Bielicki, Relocation Supervisor r. Edgar D. Seybold (South Bend Civic Planning Association) On otion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the eeting of August 4, 1960 were approved as read, and the following busi ess was discussed. III. RE24n&qff BT ZM&L A=A= M7EGCMM=IR Mr. C. C. Fry, Real Estate Negotiator for the Relocation Field Office, re-ported on o=perations and _progress of his office. He stated that three op- tion for purchase of property have already been signed. Mr. Fry explained that people who wish to sell their -:property now, may place their names with him at the Relocation Field Office. Mr. Edward Bielicki, Relocation Supervisor, reported that office equip - men has been purchased and -put into operation and office procedures are bein , established. Mr. Bielicki reported that a check with the Townshi�:> Trustee showed that twenty-three of the families in the Redevelo-::,)m ent area are on relief and fort -five families are receiving aid from the Welfare Department. Two farm ies from the area have been accepted by the Housing Authority for publ'c housing. . -2- �1'U.". RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMIS- SION, GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORIZING THE COMMISSIONERS TO APPROVE THE OPTION AGREEMENTS FOR ACQUISITION OF PARCELS IN THE SAMPLE STREET PROJECT - INDIANA R -7 On motion duly made, seconded, and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 24 was adopted to authorize any one Commissioner to al3prove options for the Commission, provided it was decided upon at a meeting of the Commis- sion to aaprove the option. SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Investment In Government Securities A nicrtion was made by Mr. ?lace to the effect that money received from the Bond sale will be invested in short -term Government Securities. Mr. Ko zan seconded the motion and it was unanimously agreed that as soonas it is convenient, after the funds have been made available, about u0°10 of the money will be invested in such securities. Preparation of Demolition Specifications It was deemed unnecessary to have Demolition Specifications orepared by an Engineering firm. Qualified ?ersonnel from the Clity Building and En- gin ering Departments and the Redevelopment Commission will prepare the specifications. Requests to two other communities for copies of their see ifications have been made to use as a guide. Attendance At N1,HRO Conference It w�s decided that the attendance at the NAHRO Conference in Detroit, Oct ber 2 -6, 1960 would be agreed upon at the next meeting.
