Sample Street Project
Because of congressional failure to provide new funds for Urban
Redevelopment for the current fiscal year, the Urban Renewal
Administration has set up a formula based on population for dis-
tributing the available $150, 000, 000 to cover as many communities
as possible.
It was necessary therefore for the South Bend Redevelopment Commission
to submit a revised application for the Sample Street Area with slightly
lowered budget estimates, so that we may be able to obtain approval
of this project this year.
The enclosed resolution you are being asked to pass simply approves
the budget reductions, which by the way will not materially affect the
scope or usefulness of the project.
