RESOLUTION NO. 29
ION OF THE SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, GOVERNING
THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT,
ZING APPROVAL OF PROPOSED CHAPIN STREET CLEARANCE PROJECT.
REAS, the South Bend Redevelopment Commission has been
advised that representatives of HHFA would be in South Bend within
the next few days to determine whether the proposed Chapin Street
area, ounded by Scott Street, Western Avenue, the New York Central
Railro d and Laurel Street, would qualify as a Redevelopment Area,
N W THEREFORE, on motion duly made, seconded, and unanimously
passed it was
SOLVED: That the Commission adopt a resolution whereby it
pledges its cooperation in clearing and acquiring the Chapin.Street
Area biEtween the Plaza Apartments, Oliver Playfield, Wk�;stern Avenue
and thE New York Central main line, provided the City of South Bend,
acting through its Common Council and the South Bend Housing Author-
ity, d cides to use this site and other land to the West thereof,
known s the Oliver Playfield for public housing and related public
uses.
