HomeMy WebLinkAboutNo. 0108 investigation FHA 221(d)(3) housing with rent supplementationProject number o incomes the City RESOLUTION NO. 108 RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INVESTIGATING FHA 221 (d)(3) HOUSING WITH RENT SUPPLEMENTATION AS, the studies carried out in the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal y the Redevelopment Commission indicate that a substantial families to be displaced have incomes substantially below the equired to secure decent, safe and sanitary housing within of South Bend, and WHEREAS, it is essential for the success of the renewal effort in the LaSa le Park area that all families to be displaced have decent, safe and soun4 housing available to them, and WHEREAS,the recently enacted Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 provides a new rent supplement program which will provide payments on behalf o lower income families being displaced to permit such families to be able to afford the rentals on privately constructed and financed decent, safe and sanitary housing, and WHEREAS, it is necessary in order to take advantage of this new rent supplene t program that an adequate supply of housing financed with Federal Housing Administration insured Section 221 (d) (3) mortgages, be const ucted under the sponsorship of a non - profit corporation, and WHEREAS, the organization of such a non - profit corporation, the preparation of all necessary applications to the Federal Housing t.dminist ation and the development of the needed housing required certain technical and abilities, NOW �HEREFORE THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BED 0 REQ ESTS THAT: 1. City Planning Associates, Inc., the planning consultant for the LaSalle Park Project, proceed with all dispatch to take the necessary steps to secure the advantages of the rent supplement program for the families residing in the LaSalle Park area who will be displaced by the carrying out of the urban renewal program and to other families living in the C'ty of South Bend displaced by governmental action or living in sub_ s anda.rd housing who need such housing assistance. 2. non -pro under t at necessary steps be taken for corporation and the development rent supplement program.
