HomeMy WebLinkAboutNo. 0124 confirming a declaratory resolution in regards to the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal Area Project No. IND R-57RESOLUTION NO. 124 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT C MMISSION "CONFIRMING A DECLARATORY RESOLUTION IN RE- G RDS:`'T9 THE LASALLE PARK URBAN RENEWAL AREA PROJECT NO- IND R -57. WHEREAS the City of South Bend Department of Redevelopment has, pureuAd to the Redevelopment of Cities and Towns Act of 1953, as amended, investigated and studied that area of the City of South Bend, County of St. Joseph, State of Indiana, designated as the LaSalle Park Urban Renewal Area, which area is bounded by a line drawn: as follows: Beginning at the point of the intersection of the north right -of -way line of Linden Avenue and a line which is an extension of the west right -of - w y line of the alley between and parallel to Sheridan Avenue and C h-1- cago Street; proceed east along the north right -of -way line of Linden Avenue to a point 129.0 feet, more or less, east of the east right-of - way line of Falcon Street; thence south along a line which is 129.0 feet, more or less, east of and parallel to the east right -of -way line of Falcon Street, a distance of 388.3 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in a westerly direction a distance of 129.0 feet, more or less, to the east right-of -way line of Falcon Street; thence south along said right -of -way lie a distance of 485.7 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direction a distance of 129.0 feet, more or less, to the west ri ht -of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Falcon Street ar d Lake Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line a dis- taace of 116.0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direction a distance of 203.0 feet, more or less, to the east. right-of - way line of Lake Street; thence south along said right -of -way line a distance of 50.0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an east- er ly direction a distance of 793.0 feet, more or less, to the west right- of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Kentucky, Street and Dun- d e Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line a'distance of 250. 0 feet, more or less; thence at 90 degrees in an easterly direction al ng a line north of and parallel to the north right -of -way line of Wash- ino,t,on Street, to the west right -of -way line of the alley west of and para 11 1 to Kaley Street; thence north along said alley right -of -way line to the north right -of -way line of the New York Central Railroad; thence south- easterly along said right -of -way line to the east right -of -way line of the first alley east of and parallel to Meade Street; thence south along said alley right -of -way line to the center line of the first alley north of and parallel to Western Avenue; thence west along said alley center line to the west right -of -way line of the alley between and parallel to Sheridan Avenue and Chicago Street; thence north along said alley right -of -way lie to the north right -of -way line of Linden Avenue which is the place of beginning; and WHEREAS, upon such investigation being made it has been found by the, :Commis- sioners that such area has become blighted to an extent that such condition cannot be corrected by regulatory process, or by the ordinary operations of private en- terprise without resort to the provisions of the Redevelopment of Cities and Towns Act of 1953, as amended, and it has been further found that the public health and welfare would be benefited by the acquisition and redevelopment of such area under the provision of such act; and WHERI the bou erties, AS the Commissioners have caused to be prepared maps and plans showing idaries of such blighted area, the location of the various parcels of prop- streets and alleys and;other features affecting the acquisition, clearance, -1- R 303(3) exclude to stre plan; a WHE] de cla stitut and tl same amen WHE the C NOW, Comn 1966, ig and redevelopment of such area indicating the parcels of property to be from acquisition and portions of the area acquired which are to be devoted 5, parks, playground, and other public purposes under the redevelopment AS the Commissioners did on the 3rd day of January, 1966 pass a. resolution ig, among other things, that the above described area is blighted and con - a menace to the social and economic interests of the City and its inhabitants it will be of public utility and benefit to acquire such area and redevelop the ider the provisions of the Redevelopment of Cities and Towns Act of 1953,.: as 1; and said Redevelopment of Cities and Towns Act, as amended, requires that ssioners confirm this previous Resolution; HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of South Bend Redevelopment scion that the Resolution passed by the Commission on the 3rd day of January, d referred to in the WHEREAS clauses above is now in all things hereby d, ratified and confirmed. -2- R 303(3)
