IMPROVEMENT RE-)OLUTION NO- 132.
-RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend,
Indiana, That it is desired and deemed necessary to make the following described
public improvements in the aforesaid Cit"r as authorized by the foilowing numbered im-
provement resolution adopted by said. Board on the- 12th. day of Jarivary 1912.
Resolved that an improvement be made of the kind si%e, location and term
inal points as follows: To improve Lafayette Street from Navarre Street to Foote Stree
By grading and Paving the roadway, also P-rading and paving the roadway of intersecting
and ente�ring streets and alleys lying within said portion -of said Lafayette Street not
included in the roadway to be improved, with Asphalt, Bitillithic, Brick or Creosoted
Wooden Block, laid on a five (5) inch Portland cement gravel conireto foundation, from
curb line, to curb line, curbing the roadway with 6 X 7 X 16 inch concrete curb where
not already constructed, also the construction of cement sidewalks on both sides of
the ",saidt'Street2 Placing the necessary cement mrina,l curb, the construction of the
recessary storm water inlets all as sho-m. on the plans, and in accordance with the
profilesi.detail drawings and, specifications on file in the Office of the Department
of Public Works of said City. And such improvement is now ordered.
Said -improvements shall be known and desi,�;nated as LAFAYETTE STREET
PAVEMENT ) CEMENT WALK, AND CFAAENT CURB IMPROVP3(ENT RESOLUTION No. 132.
Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 5th. day of Feb-miar;
iand. on the 12th. day of February 1912, in the South Bend Daily Times.
Said Board has fixed the 8th. day of March 1912 as a date upon which
renionstrances may be filed or heard by persons interested or affected d public
improvements and on said OaY at 7:15 P.M.office said Board will at its said Oice hear and
consider any remonstrators and persons interested or whose property in affected by sail
public ipprovement And will decide whether the benefits that will accrue to the pro-
perty, abutting and adjacent to the proposed improvements and to said City,
will be
equal to,, or exceed the estimated cost of the Proposed improvements, as estimated by
the City Civil Engineer.
A Bond or Bonds to be issued to the contractor in payment of 'such work where the pro-
perty owner signs waiver required, as according to law.. Which said bonds shall bear
interest at the rate of six per cent per annum, payable as provided by law.

Hearing given on the assessment roll and final estimate on the Macadam Pavement
on South Michigan Street, under Improvement Resolution no.7F;:ft.nuiqber of re-
monstrators appeared and were heard., and the matter was deferred
l Hearing given on .: Assessment Roll end final estimate on the Grade, Curb, and Walk
on Catalpa Avenue, Under Improvement Resolution no. 72.. All action in this
matter was 6eferred.
Hearing i.gven on Assessment Roll and final estimate for a Pipe Sewer on Huron
Street, Under. Improvement Resolution No 94. On account of the unfinished con-
dition of the street the, Board deferred Faction.

Under Improvement Resolution No. 69. No remonstrators appeared and no remonstran
ces were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolk
rolls filed December the 12th. 1911 is benefited in the amount of assessments
as shown on said roll, and the Board further finds that the assessment roll Filed
on December the 12th. 1911 and the final estimate allowed on December the 12th.
1911 should be, and the same are hereby in all.things confirmed and approved:
.J Hearing given on Declaratory Resolution No 111 for a Pipe Sewer on Elwood Avenue
from Portage Avenue west along the center line of Elwood Avenue a distance of
Nine Hundred and Fifty (950) ft. In the above natter no remonstrators appeared
ti,nd no remonstrances were filed. Therefore be it Resolved that the Board find
in each and every ease in said improvements that the benefits to the property
and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said i.mprovenent
and the same are hereby in all things _ratified, confirmed and approved.
Be it resolved that notices be published in the South Bend. Times on the 16th.
day of Januarli and on the 23rd. day of January 1912 to the eff'eet that this
Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to_10:00 A.M
on the 2nd.' dty `of February 1912, The Board reserves the right to reject any and
all bids.
J Hearino- given on Roll showing &*a,rds of damages and assessments of Benefits in
the matter of Vacation Resolution No 14, For the Vacation of Grant fro m Orange
Street to Baker Street, and also to vacate Baker Street from Grant Street to
Johnson Street in the City of South Bend, Indiana. Adopted on the 15th. day of
September 1911.
No remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed.. The Board therefore
declare the above roll filed December the 15th. loll in all things ratified,,
confirmed approved.. Anti the foregoing; street as affected in this resolution
vacated.
The Boa.ra further.f'ihd that the property of the O'Brien Varnish Company is bene-
fited in the amount of Three Hundred ( 300.00) Dollars. The property of the
O'Brien Varnish Company :is therefore assessed Three Hundred ($300.l'10) Dollars.
Now comes the O'Brien Varnish Company and waivers all notice of assessment un-
der Vacation Resolution No. 14, and pay into the Treasurer of the City of South
Bend, Indiana the sum of three Hundred ($300.00) Dollars.
