Anderson peesent, , A list of applicants for appointments �o.r the -position of Buiding Commissioner and City Electrician w$s submitted by Frederick J. Anderson Secretary for Board of Examiners and was read and placed on.file, and said applicants to be taken under consideration. , February 14,1922. To the Hon. Fites presented petition for paving of South Michigan Street from a point 40 feet north of the north line of Fairview Avenue to the City Limits as set out in the petition as follows: - PETITION. South Bend, Ind. Feb, 14,1922. To the Honorable Board of Public Works, of the City of South Bend,.Ind. Gentlemen: - We, the undersigned property owners, petition your Honorable Body to pave South Michigan Street from a point 40 feet north of the north line of Fairview Ave., to the south line of Donmoyer Avenue; and also to pave a strip 18'feet wide with shoulders og gravel three feet wide on each side of the pavement in the center of South Michigan Street from the south line of Donmoyer Avenue to the City Limits. The petition for the 18 ft. strip is based on the condition that the water mains first be extended from Donmoyer Ave., to the City Limits. We, also petition that in: the ,eV.eft%,e;the pavement is constructed from Donmoyer Ave, to the City Limits that all streets and alley intersections be paved to the property line of Michigan Street. Mayor Seebirt appeared before the Board and requested that an estimate of expenses for various departments under the Board'sjurisdiction be made out and filed with him in the near future. The Board instructed the Clerk to prepare an estimate of various funds, also F';.-::J. Anderson City Engineer, D. C. Layton, Street Commissioner and J. P. Reed Cemetery Sexton to submit an estimate of probable expense for their departments. H. M. Hildebrand and Sears Engineer for the Indiana Bell Tel. Company appeared before the Board in regard to permitissued January loth., 1922 for setting poles and anchors on Indian, Avenue from Clyde Street to Leer Street and stated that this was the only.proper route for to-. use. No change made on the permit. Charles Calvert Secretary of the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company appeared before the Board and presented the following request to set poles on South Michi Street and same was referred°to City Ekeetrician and Pole and Wire Inspector Beaning for investigation and report. Gentlemen: - We hereby request permission to run a line of poles -south on Michigan Street from Ewing Avenue to the City Limits on the west side of the Street all the way through.
