The April 16th, 2019 Community/Campus Advisory Coalition (CCAC) meeting was called to
order by Councilmember Gavin Ferlic at 3:54 p.m. in Classroom #2 in the South Bend Fire
Station #1 located at 1222 South Michigan Street, South Bend IN.
Persons in attendance included the following individuals representing the following entities:

CITY OF SOUTH BEND UPDATES/CONCERNS:
Tim Lancaster with the South Bend Police Department addressed the recent IUSB student
shooting but, because it is an ongoing investigation, there are limited details that can be
provided. The South Bend Police Department is also looking to introduce fifteen (15) hybrid
vehicles into their fleet as a sustainability effort.
Councilmember Gavin Ferlic expressed his interest in crafting a Hands -Free Driving Ordinance
to address the issue of distracted driving while having a cellular device in an automotive vehicle
operator's hands.
Stephanie Steele, the City of South Bend's Corporation Counsel, introduced herself and
Geovanny Martinez. Mr. Martinez is a new hire to the City of South Bend and will be attending
future CCAC meetings.
Councilmember Gavin Ferlic adjourned the meeting at 4:02 p.m. The next meeting is tentatively
scheduled for September IOth, 2019 at 3:30 p.m.
