Clerk instructed to write to the Indiana & Michigan Electric Co, to clean all globes on -incandescent lights in the City. Board ordered all lights turned on at skating rinks in Howard sand Deeper Park,. Petition filed for vacation of alley lying north of Lot 167 Raff's 4th: Addition and ally lying west of lots 167-166-165 Raff's 4th. Addition -Same referred to the City Engineer, for report. Petition filed for a light on Birdsell Street from Sancome Ave Same referred to Beaning for report. Permission granted the Indiana Bell Telepho a Co, to set anchor on lst. all pole north of New York Central Tracks in alley between South Michigan Street and South Main Street. Dear Sir In reply to your favor of the 17th. , we beg to advise: It is the opinion of this department that the claim of Lowell B. Curwin is not a le al claim against thq City of South Bend and cannot be paid. 'The.service rendered by Mr. Curwin is a duty imposed by law upon the State { Board of Accounts and had a request been made upon this department for am.examinatj tion, we would have been pleased to have made such examination. At the time the examination was being made by Mr. Curwin, we had two accountants in your City. The examination made by Mr. Curwin does in no way relieve this department of its obligation to the City of South Bend and an examination will be made in the regular course of business regardless of the examination of Mr. Curwin.
