Attorney A Wolf and Harry Sanders of Sanders & Egbert, Attorney Seybold, L. E. Couter and F. C. Raff of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works were present at' said meeting and discussed with the Board the advisability of award- ing contract at this time. Attorney Seybold and F: C. .off representing Oliver's stated -;to the Board that Mr. Oliver wanted the pavement put in on Walnut Street this Fall, on account of their new factory buildings going in there and they needed a pavement to get in and out to their new buildings, Attorney Wolf representing Sanders & E gbert stated that `this company did not want any pavement put in until all switch tracks necessary for their business was first put in on Walnut Street. +.he Board after careful consideration decided to defer the awarding of the contract on Walnut Street until Thursday September gth.tl920 at 9: 00 A.M. Attorney Arthur Gilliam appeared before the Board in regard to contract for the operation of auto ,buses on certain streets in the City. Same referred to the City Attorney for report. This agreement m de and entered into this day of 1920, by and between the City of South Bend, by and through its Board of Public Works, hereinafter called first party, and the South Bend Motor Bus Company a corporation duly created and organized under the Jews of the State of Indiana, hereinafter called second party, Witnesseth: That consent , .permission and authority are hereby given and granted by first party to and vested in second party, its successors and assigns, to operate its commercial vehicles, commonly known as.jitney busses, for the purpose of carrying passengers, for a period of fifty (50) years, over the follow- ing streets and routes in the City of South Bend, Indiana:- L. On South Main Street between Washington and Division Streets and on Div is ion Streets between Main and Olive Streets, 2. The Board ordered Beaning Pole and Wire Inspector to locate where new light is to be placed near Tri bune Building at corner of Lafayette Blvd. Board instructed Street Commissioner to place detour signed on OLiva Street so parties coming in on Division Street road can teach the City safely. Engineer filed modified assessment roll on Wakewa Avenue Pipe sewer from Iroquois Street to Lafayette B vd. and the Board ordered hearing set for September Sth.,192o at 7:15 P.M. and Clerk instructed to mail notices of new assessments.
