Light at Church'Plaae changed to Arc light,, Mr, L.­E. 'Couter of Oliver Chilled Plow. Works and E. A. Coates of the` Williston Construction Company appeared before the Board, Mr. Couter requested the Board to have the Williston Construction Company start on. Walnut Street Pavement improvement, and Mr. Coates.advised the Board that Mr. Fredericks#& of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works stated he would sell the cement to the Williston Construction Company for the Walnut Street Improvement and then decided he would not sell said eemeat'for Walnut Street. Mr. Coates explained to the Board how he would have to a±oer order cement for Walnut Street and stated to the Board that his Company intended is put in pavement contract in order let to -them and unless the Board ordered other- wise., Mr. L.' E. Couter stated he would find out about the cement. 'Board of Public Works, South Bend, Ind Gentlemen; I am in receipt ofnotiae from the Clerk of your Board which gives assessment of $591.48 to St.. 8oseph's Church For pavement of so-called "Church Place". I beg to state I consider this assessment unjust and exorbitant to the people of St. Joseph's Parish. Everybody knows the little section of alley was paved pr:itarily in the interest of the owner of houses recently erected on east side of this section. There was no talk of paving this little section before the_ present owner bought this property and built, these houses. There is ,no paving done above or below this short section and several streets . on. this side of the city arc not yet paved. The whole business is a strange mariner of procedure. Your Board has not I think gone into the case sufficiently and has not dealt with it in a manner satisfactorily to those on whose khoulders is placed the burden of payment. Respectfully yours, P. J.
