Attorney Hammerschmidt appeared before the Beard and presented copies of Ordinance drawn -up •by -the Civic Federations and requested that the City Garbage contract be held up until after thds ordinance was passed by the Common Council. The Board informed her. Hamerscbmidt that the contract bad been signed and referred to "the `Csunc 11. Mr .. J. W. Lafayette Street. This Building originally built as a church has been in use for several years past for the storage end repair of autebobilea and parts. I will replace the present wooden floor with one of concrete, remove the int interior wood trim and protect all wooden eolumuns by enclosing them in. concrete. This building is 35-ft... from the Sheriff's res iden ce, the rear wall of the build ing being approy imate ly on the line north and south with the west wall of the I am attaching a sktech showing the location of the window openings relative to the nearest window opening in the jail, for your information. TOYNE. JWT/N . The Board ordered the City Engineer to prepare resolution for pavement on South Michigan Street from Ewing Avenue to 40 feet north of Fairview Avenue. The matter of awarding contract for Madison Street Trunk sewer was deferred by the Board until Tuesday June 17th.,1919 at 10aDO A.M. George M. Urey appeared before the Board and requested that his salary be increased from $120000 per year to $1,500.00 per year. The Board instructed Mr. Urea to prepare ordinance nd present same to the Council for said increase and that they would recommend same. Petition received From residents of South Bend Avenue between Eddy Street and City Limits requesting that G. W. (S"8* by paving the roadway of the same, and WHEREAS, the City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in` the office of this Board a report show- ing the number and location of the service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals, and connections which are, or will be necessary to accommodate the abutting property and the owners thereof .with gas, water, sewer, and other conveniences and necessaries; and also said City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in said office specifications showing the material to be used and the manner of laying said service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points inside the curb lines. THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil Engineer is adopted, and said report and the specifications prepared and filed by him are made a part of this resolution as fully and effectually as if copied herein at full length; and it is fur- . ther ordered that all of such private connections with the sewer, gas and water mains be made. in said street by bringing them inside the curb lines thereof.
