Oliver in regard to dumping of rubb ish 6n R Ivor Bank and in r Ivor bac k of Orpheum: Theatre. The same was referred to the Pollee Department for enf oreement and immediate action. The Board instructed the Building Commissioner to employ George L. Dayton as an inspector in., the Building Department_ services to begin June lot., 1019 and c ont inue from month to month as c and it ions warrant at a salary of $85. 00 per month. Said salary to begla June let., 1919. The Board hereby autoriaes an increase of salary° for N. S. Mareb be :; increased from $90. 00 per month to $100.00 per month. said increase to begin June lst.,1919. - The Board instructed the City Civil Engineer to prepare resolutions for the resurfacing of Van Buren Street from Portage Avenue to Howard Street and Howard Street from L. W. Vest to Van, Buren Street , by resurfacing same with Tarvis, also resurfacing with bituminous carpet cost, Also resurface Eddy Street from La Salle Howard Street with Tarvis also bituminous carpet coat, 70 h..1919. Continued. Representatives of the Birdsall Mfg. Company a geared before the Board with the Commissioner of Buildings and, requested permission to repair present aerial Bridge across Columbia Street of their factory between Division Street and Monroe Street. Permission granted with the understanding that passage way for traffic be left on street and the proper safe guards be placed day and night. Communication received from Stuart McKibbin, County attemny in regard of the County's claim for grading, draining and grevel g the approach of Portage Avenue at the county line, the total cost of stame being 1;589,54) the city to pay one-half of same amounting to 0 794.77 The`following resolution was adopted and approved by the Board. That the claim filed by the County Commissioners against the City of South Bend for the grad ing ' of the approach of Portage Avenue at the city l L litits in the sum of $1590.00, they sum. of "4.77 this being one half of"the toted cost of said Improvement was ordered paid out of the miscellaneous Lund of the Board of Public Worlds. Petition filed for sewer. on Beale Street from Portage Avenue to Kessler Blvd. Also the following waiver signed. The Board ordered a resolution prepewed on same WA I VER. All as shown on the plan and In accordance with the profiles, detail drawings and specifications on file in the officer of the, Department of, Pub_ i ie Works. AND WHEREAS, we.- the undersigned, are the only persons owing property on said street to be improved, and thatme alone are affected in any way by said proposd Improvement, That we are the sole owners of the separate parcels of land bordering upon said street proposed to be improved. We further waive any right to object to the form of said resolution. We further waive any and all objections to the fact that no advertisement for hearing was published sa required by law. That no notices were ma-iled to the owners of property and that no hearing was - held by said Board. We also consent that said Board shall proceed to let the contract for doing said work in the f ollowing manner: - That they _shall notify by mail responsible contractors in the City of South Bend, Ines ans of said work to be dome under said resolution, and that they shall receive bids from said c ontrac tors for doing said work, and they shall let the contract for the doing of said work to the lowest responsible bidder. And we waive any objections to the action of said Board inletting said contract in a form and manner other than ,provided by law.
