04/30/1919 Board of Public Works Minutes
62 S Board met In regular session at 7:15 P.M. All members present. Hearing had. on Improvement Resolution No. 623 for the grade curb and walk on Drain Street from Ewing Avenue to south line of Eckman's Oakside 3rd. Additio a �in the City -of South Bend, -Indiana. Upon said hear ing property owners appeared for said improvement -but no further written remonstrance was filed. The Board after due c ons iderat ion °decided to defer all action on said resolution until Wmdnesdoy May 28th.,1g19 at 7:15 P.M. Deferred hearing had on Improvement $,cs olut ion No. 612 for the paving of 1st. alley east of St. Louip Blvd. from La Salle. Avenue to Madison Street., in the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon -said hearing remonstrators-6ppeared but no further written remon strance was filed. The Board after due consideration decided to defer all action on same until Wednesday May 28th.91919 at 7:15 P.M. Hearing had. on Improvement Resolution No. 651for Pipe sewers on Kasciussko Street, Jackson Street, Brookfield Street, Grant Street, Warren Street and Carlisle Street, in the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing property owners appeared on Grant Street and filed petitions requesting the Board to change 15inch sewer pipe on Grant Street to 121nch sewer pipe, on Jackson Street,-I`the tropiartytawners appeared and wanted 151nch pipe sewer instead of 12 inch pipe sewer. Warren Street property owners, wanted 12 inch pipe sewer. No written remonstrance was filed. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to ?property liable to be assessed for said improvements .are equal to the estimated cost of the sane, as reported by the City Civil Engineer and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as modified:- Said resolution modified to read all 121nch pipe sewer instead of 15 inch pipesewer, and the same is hereby in aTl things, ratified, confirmed . and approved. Resolved further, that notices be published on the 2nd. day of May 1919 and on the 9th. , day of May 1919 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that thf this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. on the 20th.9 day of May 1919. The Board reserves the' right to reject any and all bids. Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 650 for pipe sewer on. Bissell Street from Eddy Street to Arthur Street, in the City of South Bend., Indiana. In the above matter remonstrators appeared and remonstrated against the constructing of s id sewer, but no written remonstrance filed. Na petitioners for sewer present. The Board after dueconsideration decided to rescind all action on said sewer improvement. .Hearing had on Improvement Resolution No. 652 for pavement an Studebaker Street from La Porte Avenue to Linden Avenue in the City of South Bend, Indiana. In the above matter a remonstrators appeared , but no written remon- strance filed. Property owners in favor of said improvement appeared. And the Board being fully advised in the premises decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said re -solu- tion as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in,all things, ratified., confirmed. _and _agpruv.ed. 629 r Ras olved further , and on the 9th. , day of May 1919 Board will receive bids for the P on the 20th. , day of May 1919. b ids. that notices be published on the 2nd, day of May 1919 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that this construction of said improvements up to 10:00 A.M. And the Board being fUlly advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as originally adopted, and the same is hereby in all things ratified, c onf irmed and approved. The Board instructed City Civil Engin e►r to have written remonstrance filed checked over by May 7t 41919 and report the resident freeholders. Hear ing -had -on Improvement Res olut ion No. 649 for trunk sewer in and along McKinley Avenue, Cedar StreetVt Miner Street, Sommers Street, Arthur Street ant Walsh Street to be known as East Madison Street. -Trunk sewer system, in the City of South Bend, Indiana. ' In the above matter no written remonstrance was f iled and no vemon- strators appeared. Property owners interested in said sewer appeared before the Board In regaril to the placing of some sewer taps. The Board after due consdderat ion decided to do-fer all action said said sewer resolution until Wednesday May 7th., 1919 at 7:15 P.M-0 Property owners appeared before the Board from Seventheenth Street in regard to petition on file for sower. The Board advised then that this resolution would be started sometime in June 1919. The Board adopted the following resolution:- STREET OR ALLEY IMPROVEAAENT RESOLUTION No. 668.
