Board met in regular session at ?: 15 P.M. All memb.aers present.
Hearing, had .'on Imur ovement Res olut ion, No. 64.2, for 'the sidewalk
on La Salle Avenue :gr om the Bridge aver the St, Joseph River -t a the .Bridge over the
East Race, 3n the Cit of South Bend, India rn.
Upon said hear ing ausremonstrator appeared ' anal no"written remonstrance
was f iled And the Board being. fully, advised in the premises, decides that the bone -
fits to pro erty liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the -estimated
cost of same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final act iron
on.said resolution as originally-adoptad and the same is hereby in all things, ratified,
c onf irmed and approved.
Resolved further, that,, notices be published on the 18th. , day of
April 1919 and on the 25th,9 day of °April 1919 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, in said
City,, scat ing , that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said ' improvements
,_up to 10: 00 A.M. on the 6th. , day of May 1919 The Board reserves the right to re jest
any and all b ids .

of Huron Street from Alley West of Harris Street to alley east of Kosciusko Street
-4n the City of South Bend, Ind Iana.
In the above matter a large number of property owners appeared
but, no written remonstrance was filed. The property owners objected to paying any
benefits for this opening, and the Board thereupon being fully advised in the. matter
takes final action on said resolution c onf irmj g without modification all former
action taken on the same. .
The Board therefore declares the above property in all things conddmned
and appropAlated for public use, the Board now ordered that a list or roll be prepared
of all the, owners or holders of property and of vaulable interests therein sought to be
taken or tobe injuriously affected, which said list or roll shall also describe the
property beneficiallk affected.
Property owners res id ing on Smith Street River 'Park from Wall Street
to 2nd. alley North appeared before the Board and presented petition for water main,
Same was referred to the City Water Department.
This -being the date set for the consideration of bids received for
the pavement of South Bend Avenue from Eddy Street to City Limits, the Board decided
to defer al oast ion on same until Tuesday April 22nd.0,1919 at 10: 00 A.M.
By unanimous consenn of the Board it was resolved that Improvement
Resolution No. 587 for the pavement on Bartlett Street from Michigan Street to
Lafayette Blvd be and is hereby resdduded, and a new resolution ordered prepared.
By unanimous consent of the Board it was resolved that improvement
Resolution No. 589 for the pavement of Allen Street from Van Buren Street to Portage
Avenue be, and is hereby rescinded, and a new resolution +mrderdd prepared.
By unanimous consent of the Board . it was resolved that improvement
Resolution No. 590 for the pavement of. -California Avenue from Portage Avenue to Blaine
Avenue be, and is hereby ordered rescinded and a new resolution ordered prepared.
By unanimous consent of the Board it was resolved- that improvement
Res4�lution No. 592 for the pavement of Miami Street from north line of Ewing Avenue
to south City Limits be and is hereby rescinded.
By' snap imous- consent of the Board it was resolved that improvement
Res glut ion No. 595 for the pavement en Haney Avenue from Michigan Street to High
Street be and is hereby rescinded.
By unanimous consent of the Board it was resolved that improvement
Resolution No. 610 for the pavement on Linden Avenue from Walnut Street to Anthony
Stkte"t be and is hereby rescinded and new resolution ordered prepared.

City Civil Engineer F. J. Anderson reported -the following tabulations
on b ids .received Tuesday April 15th. ,1919 and the awards were made as follows: --

Concerning the Improvement of the roadway of Calvert Street from
Michigan Street to High Street with asphalt, as i , tdc'.conerete; Bitulithic
concrete or brick in pursuance to resolution. No., 621 the Board on the 15th.9 day of
April 1919 pub;iely opened and read and considered all bids, and then continued
their meeting to .this 16th. , day of April 1919.
Now on the last named date the Board designated Asphaltic concrete*
,as the kind of pavement. with which said street is to be improved and fixes the 28th.
day, of April 1918 at 10:00 A.M. as the time when petition for .changing the kind of
pavement must-_ be filed, `and the Board hereby continues this matter until the 29th. , dp
day of April 1919 at 10:00 A.M. On the day above named the Board will either pass on
peititions let said contract or reject all bids.

Brick in pursuance to Resolution No. 620 the Board on the 15tch.9 day of April 1919.

to this 16th., day of April 1919. Now on the last named date des i nated Asphaltic concrete as the
kind of pavement with which said street si to be improved^gftd fixes the 28th.0 day of
April 1919 at 10:00 A.M. as the time when petitions for changing the kind pf pavement
must be filed, and the Board hereby continues this matter until the 29th., day of
April 1919 at 10:00 A.M.,.-On the day above named the.Board will either pass on peti-
tions, let said contract or rejeet all bids.

Contracts for pipe sewers were awarded .on Fisher Street., Jackson
Street and Frllows Street to L. A. Webster.
` Bids on High Street- pipe sewer above estimated cost, bids rejected
and by unanimous consent of the Board resolution was rescinded,
Mr. Fred W. Keller appeared before the Board in regard to agree-
ment for street intersections on Edgewater Place as follows.-

AGREEMENT.
This Agrement, Made this 16th ., day of Apr it 1919 by. and between

thr ough its., Board of Public Works, party of the second part,
W ITNESSETH:
' That, Whereas, the party of the f i�st part is the owner of certa in
add ions in the C ity _ of S outh Bend known as Edgewater Place Add it ion to said City, and
that all the lets and land in said Add it ion is owned by the party of the first part,
and sa id° party of the f irst part des i.^es to haveail the streets running through said
addition -paved, and'has petitioned the Board of Public Works df the party of the second
part t o have the same done and to have the cost thereof assessed against the land in the
f orm and manner as pr ov ided by law.
And, Whereas, the said party of the second part does not now have money
suffic ient in its intersection fund to pay all the cost of paying street intersections
which cost would.be assessed .aga inst the City: -
Therefore, in con iderat ion that tpe said party of the. second part,
through its Board, shall cause said streets to be paved during the year 19192 then the
party -of the f irst part agrees t o pay upon the c omplet ion of sa id work and the approval
of the. assessment roll therefor, one-half of the cost of paving all street intersections
as aforesaid, or said Board may at its Option assess said one-half of the cost of paving
street intersections against the lots and land of the party of the first part in add it ion
to other assessments to which such land is subject. It is hereby understood that the
c ns t of .all improvements on Edgewater Drives shall be assessed against the lots of
Edgewater Add it ion .
