Carson appeared before the Board and requested the Board of Public'Works to notify all resident property owners and property owners an Calvert Street frdm Michigan Street to Miami Street and the Board of Park Com- missions that a Jo ixit sleeting of the Board of Rark. Commissioner, Board of Public Works and the property awners'bn Calvert would be held Wednesday April 23rd.,. 1919 at 7: 30 in the Common Council Chambers in the City Hall to discuss the paving of Calvert Street through- Studebaker Park. Clerk instructed *to prepared notice and send same out to property owners and the Board of Park Commissioners. By unanimous consent of the Board Mrs. Jessie Winchell was employed to act as4Clark in the Building Department temporarily or until further orders from the Board. Beard of Public Works., , Mayor Carson requests me to call to your attention, regarding the Water Works blowing their hydrant and tearing the street to streets the pieces. ON Macadam im�a s 19 great and dirt streets- the dirt is blown to app6s1te side of the street covering sewer inlets and' cutting deep and dangerous holes in same D. C. Layton, C ommund.e.at ion received from H. S. Cover in regard to re-arrang- ing poles on Chippewa Avenue and Michigan Street. The Pole and wire inspector reports- that these are Home Telephone Company poles and the whole line should be removed to the curb when the curb line Is placed. The Board ordered` the Central Union Telephone Company notified to removb telephone pole now located at 1610 Prairie`Avenue to the east about ten (10) feet. The Board of Public Works ordered the Chicago, Lake Shore & South Bend Railway C ompa1iy not if ied to remove their pole now located in the way of a drive at 1507 Orange Street, same to the removed. to the west about five feet to the dividing line between the two properties. BE It Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend St. Joseph County, State of Indiana, that it is desired and deemed necessary to im- prove Lincoln Way West from Olive Street to the westerly City limits as follows, to -wit: - Said Street shall ,be graded and the roadway thereof shall.be paved; and also the roadway,of certain portions of the streets and alleys which enter or intersect said street sha :1 be graded` and peeved.- The paving material to be used in making said improvement shall be Portland cement concrete, Sheet Asphalt, Bitulithic, Asphaltic C oncretet or Br ick: and the f oundat ion shall be pvrtland cement concrete six (6) inches thick f or the Sheet Asphalt, b itulithic., asphaltic c onerote -and brick or roiled gravel sire (6) Anch.es.thick for the Brick; also combined cement curb and gutter shall be con- structed along said street where curb is not dlready constructed; stern water inlets nd and conduits shall be constructed where necessary; all manhole tops and storm water inlets shall be set to -the proper grade; cement marginal curb shall be constructed at all street and alley intersections where necessary, all as is more partteula,rly shown and all in accordance with the plans, profiles, detail drawings and specifications on file in the office of the Department of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana.
