All members present, Deferred °hearing had on resolution for pipe sewer on _Brookfield Street from Ford Street to point 110 feet south of the south line of Division Street under -Improvement Resolution No. 597. In the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said'hearing property owners appeared and' -presented petition requesting the Board to modify said original resolution to read 15 inch pipe instead of 12 inch pipe. .,And , the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits' to property liable to be assessed forsaid biprovements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by tie City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution by modifying same to rend 15 in.ch sewer Instead of 12 inch sewer as per petition filed by property owners and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved as amended.. Resolvgd further that notices be published on the 14th., day of March 1919 and on the 21st., day of March 1919 in the South Bend Daily Tribune in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvement up to 10:-00 A.I. on.the lst., day of April 1919. The Boa.rd.reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The following estimated cost was filed by the City Civil Engineer. March 5,1919. To the Hon. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits, to property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City Civil Engineer, and thereupon takes final action. on said resolution by modifying said resolution to include Bituminous Macadam and seven inch Portlarid Cement concrete pavement same being requested by the property owners present, and the same is hereby in all things ratified,, confirmed and approved, Resolved further, that notices.be published on the 14th., day of March 1919 and on the 21st., day of March 1919 in the South Bend Daily Tribune in said City, stating that this Board will receive bids for the construction of said improvement up to 10: 00 A.M. on the lst. day of April 1919. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all b ids . Deferred hearing on Improvement Res olut Ion No. 591 for , the Pavement o Fellows Street from Division Street to Monroe. Street and from Sample Street to Duba it Avenue, in the City of South Bend, Indiana. Upon said hearing remanstrators appeared but no further written remonstrance filed. And the Board find. that- there `bedng a! number less than the majority of the resident free -holders who have signed the remonstrance, the the Board now over --rules said written remonstrance filedFebruary 19th., 1919 and March 12th., 1919. And the Board being fully advised in the premises, decides that the benefits to property li.;,ble to be assessed for said -improvements are equal to the estimated cost of the same, as reported by the City C iv i1 Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on said resolution as modified:- The -Board modified said resolution to read a twenty three (23) foot roadway and retain present curb , and the same is hereby in all things, ratified, c onf irmed and approved as mod if ied: -- The Board further resolve that no notices for receiving of bids be advertised until the expiration of the ten (10) day remonstrance period as now provided by law. Mr. Richard Elbel appeared bebore the Board in the interest of the Park Board and took up thef811owing matters with the Board. Requested permission to have dirt from the Olive Street Pavement Improvement for to put on Kaley Park. Board advised Mr. Elbel he would have to see Contractor who would get the work about the dirt. About the Park Board getting the old shed at the rear of No. 4 Hose House. The Board advised Mr. Elbel to take this matter u,D with Mr. Layton, Street Commiss ioner, Too up the matter of the Board starting a resolut ion for the pavement of Calvert Street through the Studebaker Park. Stated to the Board.that the Board of Park Commissioners did not want a public streOht going throughx-this Park. Board advised Mr. Elbel that a resolution had been started and. set for hearing on Pavement on Calvert Street. 49 Petition for a brick pavement on West Dunham Street from Harris Street to Jackson. Street'.- Same read and placed on file. City Civil - Engineer reported on bids for the paving of Bartlett Street from Michigan Street to Lafayette Boulevard and as all'bids were above Engineer's estimate of the cost of the improvement, it was unanimously decided by the'Board`that bias be advertised on the 14th., day of. March 1919 and on the 21st . day of March 1915 in _ the South Bend Daily Tribune 'in said City. stating that 'this Board will retieive bids For the' constructionof said improvements`up to lo: oo A.M. n the _1st., day of `April 1919i The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bds. ; a Attorney S. Pettingill appeared before the Board and requested that something be';done with the unsightly pipes of sewer which extended out in river bank opposite to his home eon Riverside Drive...The Board agreed to -investigate this matter. e 0 President.
