Lindsay Street from Portage Avenue to,Allen Street under Improvement Resolution No. 594
M. Kelley filed written agrement with Lydia A. Garwood for private connection with
the Garwood sewer. This matter was deferred until Tuesday Burch 4th. ,1919 at 10: 00

Deed presented to the Board by Gerrgc W. Arehart and Maude E.
Arehart for -a part of lot 1 _in Talbot's addition to South Bend_. The same was referred
to the City Eiaglneer for recommendation to be reported on Tuesday March 4th.,1919.

",,-RESOLUTION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS PITH MAINS.

WHEIAS,, 'the! Poai-d of Public Works on 'the 14th., day of January
1919 did `adopt a. resolution ordered and requiring the permanent improvement of
Miami° Street from, Ewing Avenue to Aouth `City Limits, by paving the roadway of the
same, and
WHEREAS-,- the° City C•iv-i1- Engineer has prepared and f iled in the off ice
of this Board a report showing the number and location of the service pipes, mains,
"gonduits, 'later'a1s°,°•'and `c'annuwc�tione whiah °are,,° or will be necessary to accommodate
the abutting property and the owners thereof with. gas , water , sewer and other
conveniences and -necessaries; . and also said City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed
in said office spec,if icat ions showing the material to be used and the manner of laying
said service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections'from the mains, to the
points inside of the curb °_1 ines .
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public -Works of the City of
South Bend, Indiana, that °the report of the Cii* Civil Engineer is adopted, and said
report and the specifications prepared and filed by him are made a part of such
private connections with the sewer, gas and water mains be made in said street by bringing
them inside of the curb lines thereof.
And be it further resolved that notice by publ icat ion "for two suc-
cessive days in the South Bend Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation printed and
published in the City of South Bend, Indiana, be given to the owners of the property
abutting upon said street to be improved directing them to made such s%wer and water
connections on or before the 29th.,da y of March 1919 and that if said connections are not
made on or before said time and in accordance with the specifications and report on file
in the office of the Board of Public Works,, then. said Board will cause the same to be
made and will assess the cost thereof alga nstt#,ha property abutting upon said streetm
and shall do all rather things pertaining thereto according to the provisiions and re-
quirements of Ordinance No. 1842 adopted by the Common Council of the City of South
Bend on July 24,1916, and if all other ordinances and laws relating thereto.
,And, be it further resolved and ordered that after the 20 day period
has ,elapsed for.the making of said connections, by the property owners, a notice
shell be published for two weeks, 'once each week, in the South Bend Tribune,
a newspaper of general circulation published in said City, requesting that bids
from contractors for the making of such connections as have not been made by the
property owner's and such -notice shall' fix a day `not earlier than ten days after- the
first dayx of such publication;, when bids shall be dpened `and a c-ontrad-t let for
the do4ng of said work.

And be, it further ordered that the Northern Indiana Gas & Electric
Company, which holds a franchise from, and is empowered by said City to furnish
artic ifc ial gas to `the. citizens thereof, and is engaged in, -said business in said
,` "C-ity, is hereby directed to make and install all service connections with its maim
in said- stree-t in accordance with the prov is ions of Ordtinance No. 1555 adopted
June 27,1910, and such other ordinance or laws applicable thereto; which con-
nections are shown upon the report of the City Civil Engineer and which are hereby
declared to be necessary in supplying gas to the owners of property abutting
upon said street.

This being 'the date set for -considering of bids for pipe sewer on
High Street from Dubail Avenue to Indiana Avenue, the tabulation of bids sub-
mitted and all bids above estimated, tk It was therefore resolved by the Board
that all bids be rejected and bids advertised on the 3rd. day of `Mareh� 1919
and on the 19th. , day of March 1919 in the South Bend Daily Tribune, stating that
bids will be received Tuesday March 18th.,1919 at 10:00 A.M. on the sewer on the
above mentioned street. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
