Gentlemen: - The Board of Park Commissioners met at their regular session on Friday February 21st., 1919 approved the _enclosed resolution relinquishing all rights and jurisdiction over Ewing Avenue Boulevard in favor of the Board of Public Works. The Board decided to refer all action until FrIday.1fthruary 28thm01919 at 10: 00 A.M. Mr.•Geo. M. Urey,°Sexton of the City Cemetery Department appeared before the, Board and recommended that the prices of grave be estimated at 6.00 for plan grave and small graves portionally, and that vaults be sold at $35.00 and that vaults to be used elsewhere to be priced at $25.00 , this same scale of prices to be the same as those charged in other cemeteries in South Bend. The Board adopted the recommendation of the Cemetery Sexton. In regard to complaint filed by V. R Roberts of water standing after every rain on sidewalk of New York Central Lines ( right of way) east and west side of Tracks on Bronson- Street North side of street from one -to three inches deep, the street commissioner reported -as follows: - The above complaint is correct the sidewalk is low or the lawn space is high. Allowing water to stand on walk. Would recommend notice being sent to N. Y. C. R. R. to drain sidewalk. D. C. Layton, Street Commissioner. The Board instructed Street Commissioner to send proper, not ices and proceed to have c and it ion remedied. . This allearyruns along the south side of our warehouse the full lagth as you;, no doubt, know that our warehouse runs through from College to Jackson This alley is in a, bad condition and at times it is almost impossible for .use to get through with our tru ek, and therefore we hop; you will consider this improve- ment and proceed with same as soon as possible. Resolved, by the Board of Public . Works of the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of Inc* ans, That it is deemed necessary to improve Main Street from Ewing Avenue to hhe south line of Eckman's Oakside Third Addition as follows, to -wit:- Said, street shall- be graded from property line, to property line to the established grade, curbing the roadway with cement curb and constructing cement sidewalk on both sides of said Main Street;. all as is more particularly shown and all in accord- ance_wit.4 plans, prof ilea, detail drawings and spec if scat_ ions.. on f ile a in the office of the department of Publ;ip Works\ of the: City of South Bend, Indian in accordance with the profile, details, drawings and specifications on f ile in the Off ioe of the Department of the Board of Public Works of said City; and such improvement is now ordered. The cost of- said improvement, including the cost of street and alley intersections, shall be assessed upon the real estate abutting on said Main Street, all according to the -method and manner provided for .in an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, entitled,, " An Act Concerning Municipal Corporations, " approved March 6,1905, and in accordance with and prsuant to the provisions of all amendatory and supplemental acts thereto, passe4d by the General Assembly of the State of Indians, Assessments.,, if deferred, are to be.-13aid in ton equal annual installments, with interest at the rate of Six per cent per annum. A bond or bonds shall be issued to, the constrictor in payment for such work, unless the property owners pay said assessments before said bond or bonds are issued. Under no circumstances shall the City of South Bend be, or be held responsible for any sum or sums due from laid property owner or owners for said work or for the collection of the same, or for the payment of any bond, bonds, certi- ficates or certificates, issued to said contractor in -payment -for uch work, except for such moneys as shall have been actually received by the City from the assessments for such improvement, or such moneys as said City is by said above entitled Act required to pay. All proceedings -had, and work done in the making of said improvement, assessment of property, collection of -asses . sments and issuance of bonds therefor, shall be as pro- vided for in said above ent it led Act and amendments thereto. Notice of this resolution shall be published on -he 27th., day of Februafy 1919 and on the 6th. 'day of March 1919 in the South Bend Daily 'Tribuge, This -Board will give a hearing on this resolution in 'its off ice . in the dity Hall on the 26th., day of March 1919 at 7:15 P.M. DEHAVEN resolutions were adopted by the Baird., • RESOLUTION FOR SERVICE CONNECTIONS WITH MAINS, No. 624. WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works on the 14th., day of January 1919• did adopt a resolution ordering and requiring the permanent improvement of Bartlett, Street from Michigan Street to Lafayette Blvd. by paving the roadway of the '-same, and WHEREAS, the City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in the office of this Board a report eltowing the number and location of the service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections which are, or will be necessary to accommodate the abutting property and the owners thereof with gas:, water, sewer, and other con- veniences and necessaries; and also said City .Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in said office specifications showing the material to b.e used and the .manner of laying said service pipes, mains, conduits, laterals and connections from the mains to the points inside of the curb lined. t Tuesday February 25th. ,1919. WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works onithe 14th., day of January 1919 did adopt a resolution ordering and requiring the permanent improvement of Wenger Street add Carroll Street from High Street to Paris Street, by paving the roadway of the same, and ° WHEREAS, the City Engineer has prepared and filed in the office of this Board a' report showing the number and location of the service pipes, mains, conduitsm laterals and connections which are, or will be necessary to accommodate the abutting property and the owners thereof with gas, water, sewer and other conveniences and necessaries; and also said City Civil Engineer has prepared and filed in said office, specifications showing the material to be used and the manner of laying said services pipes, mains, conduits, laterals, and connections from the m&ins tothe point inside of the curb lines. -HEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana, that the report of the City Civil Engineer is adopted, and said report and the specifications prepared and filed by him are made a part of this resolution as fully and effectually as is copied herein *t full length; and it is further ordered that all of auch private connections with the sewer, gas and water mains be made in said street by bring them inside of the curb lines thereo`f.'
