Bids were -received and opened for the add it ion t o the City Hall, the same being deffirred from Tuesddy -January 21st. , 1919 until this time. Indiana Lbr. . Company 3 * 105.00 Jos. R . Miller `39035.00 Certified checks were filed with all above bids, and the Board decided to defer . the awarding of the contract for the erection of said add it ion to the City Hall until Saturday January 25th. ,1919 at 10: 00 A.M. The Board 'ordered that E. R. Aust6n be notified to prepare form of contract for sa id ' add it ion and have same here by Saturday January 25th. ,1919 at 10:00 A.M. `R D. Westbury represeAt ing Wm. H. Burke Company met with the Board in regard to bills on f ile� in this office and before the Board for payment of contract of remodeling of heating system _ in City Hall boiler rooms and patrol room. After due consideration, Mr. Westbury agreed to test out pipes and if any part was defective agreed to make good. The Board ordered the bills paid. Mhe matter of assessment for pavement on Eddy Street and Mishawaka Avenue pavement assessed against Pottowatomio Park was discussed by the Board and the City Attorney decided that the City shoti'd pay this assessment as per resolution signed by a prosous Board under date of August 28th.,1917 stating that the special assessment abutting on Pottowatomie -Park for this pavement should be assessed to the City. The Board instructed the City Civil Engineer to prepare resolutions for the pavement of South Main. Street from Broadway to Indiana Avenue, also South Lafayette Street from Broadway to Indiana. Avenue; and North Shore Drive from Michigan Street to Leeper Avenue. The following resolution was adopted by the Board. STREET OR ALLEY IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 599• BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, STATE OF• INDIANA, That it is desired and deemed necessary to improve South Bend Avenue from Eddy Street to the East City Limits, as follows, to -wit: - Said Avenue shall be #raded and the center of the roadway thereof shall be paved awith a Portland Cement Concrete pavement twelve (12) feet wide, and seven (7) inches thick; storm water inlets and conduits shall be constructed where necessary all manhole tops and storm water inlets shall be set to the proper grade; all as is more particularly shown and e,lli. in accordance with the plans, profiles' detail drawings, and specifications on file in the office of the Department of Public Works of the City pf South Bend, IndIana.
